Opening the Closure System
Open the closure system com-
pletely.
Always pull the zip fastener
straight up or down, never at an
angle!
Do not use force. The chain links
could be twisted!
If jammed, pull the slider back and
then forth again.
Closing the Closure System
Avoid transverse tensions at the
slider while closing the closure
system.
Use your hand to pull the zip fas-
tener halves towards one another.
This makes it easier to pull the
slider up or down.
Make sure that no foreign objects
such as shirt, jacket, filaments etc. get caught between the
chain links.
Putting On
NOTICE
Have a second person help when donning the suit.
Don the underclothing (breathable and sweat-absorbing
workwear).
For protective suits with face cuff:
Adjust the elastic strap kit inside the head hood to the head
size of the user.
In stockinged feet, step into the
right trouser leg and protective
boot, then step into the left trou-
ser leg and the protective boot.
NOTICE
We recommend tucking the underclothing's trouser legs into
the socks to hold the trouser legs in place.
If necessary, fix the cotton gloves to the wrist with duct tape
to prevent the gloves from slipping.
Pull the chemical protective suit up to the waist.
If the chemical protective suit has a ventilation unit
Close the belt if necessary.
Connect the air supply inside the chemical protective
suit depending on the type of ventilation system.
Then slip your right arm into sleeve and glove.
If necessary, crouch down. Pull the head hood over your
head.
Then slip your left arm into sleeve and glove.
Fitting the full face mask:
For protective suits with integral full face mask:
1) Follow the instructions in the separate Instructions for Use of the
product.
Smooth any folds in the hood, then adjust the full face
mask.
For protective suits with face cuff:
Adjust the face cuff so that your chin and forehead are
covered by the elastic cuff by approx. 1/3, but without
obstructing your line of sight.
Open the strap kit of the full face mask as much as pos-
sible, then don the full face mask with the help of a sec-
ond person if necessary

mask. Align the full face mask so that the seal frame
presses against the facial cuff all around.
Put the strap around your neck.
Pull the strap kit of the full face mask over your head so
that the back of your head is evenly covered by the
straps.If the position of the strap kit is too high, the mask
can slip out of place.
1 Tighten both neck straps by pull-
ing them back evenly.
2 Tighten both temple straps by
pulling them evenly.
3 Tighten the front strap by puling it
back.
Have a second person make sure
that the full face mask is properly seated.
Check the full face mask for leaks and correct operation as
described in the related Instructions for Use.
Follow the Instructions for Use of the respiratory filter, self-
contained open-circuit compressed air breathing apparatus
or compressed-air hose breathing apparatus.
If the mask is leaky, have a second person check if the elas-
tomer of the face cuff is properly positioned in the sealing
area of the sealing lips of the mask.
If this is not the case, pull the hood material out from under
the sealing frame area so that only the elastomer of the face
cuff is under sealing lips. While doing so, make sure that
the elastomer of the face cuff is not pulled out from under
the mask.
Have a second person close the closure system. Always
pull the zip fastener straight up or down. Do not use exces-
sive force!
Close the covering flap if necessary.
Don overgloves if necessary and secure them with the asso-
ciated rubber ring at the height of the supporting ring.
You can wear Kevlar overgloves without further securing
means (the knit band fits closely to the wrist) or pull them
over the arm ring and secure them with a rubber ring
R 51 358.
Don the breathing apparatus and check its function
1)
Don the safety helmet.

For protective suits with integral ventilation valve:
If no self-contained breathing apparatus or supply hose is
connected, seal the ventilation connectors.
Never start a mission alone!
