Access to subindex 0 addresses the entire
object of an index. Access of subindices >0
addresses the individual elements of an index.
Device Access Locks
With this standard parameter, it is possible to activate or
deactivate certain functions of the IO-Link device. With the
BIP, there is the option to lock the function of the
parameter manager. To do so, bit 1 of the 2-byte value
must be set to 1 (locked). In order to unlock the parameter
manager, bit 1 is set to 0.

Profile Characteristic
This parameter indicates which profile is supported by the
IO-Link device.
The inductive positioning system BIP supports the Smart-
Sensor profile with a process data variable:
Subindex 1: profileID
0x000A ("Measurement Data Channel (standard
resolution)")
Subindex 2: Subindex 2: CommonApplicationProfileID
0x4000 ("Identification and Diagnosis")
Subindex 3: FunctionClassID
0x8001 ("Diagnosis")
Subindex 4: FunctionClassID
0x8004 ("TeachChannel")
PD Input Descriptor
This parameter describes the composition of the process
data variables used.
The BIP inductive positioning system processes the
process variables (see Tab. 6-7 on page 14).
Application Specific Tag
Application Specific Tag, Location Tag and Function tag
make it possible to assign the IO-Link device an arbitrary,
32-byte string. This can only be used for application-
specific identification and applied in the parameter
manager. The entire object is accessed via subindex 0.
