APPENDIX D
INSTALLING BATTERIES
Use only batteries with builtin protection.
1.
First switch OFF the instrument at the
power switch and remove the power sup
ply cable.
2.
Turn the instrument upside down.
Note: The instrument display can be pro
tected against scratching by placing it on a
soft towel or equivalent.
3.
Open the battery cover by turning the lever
counterclockwise and lifting the cover off.
To operate the instrument on batteries, use
alkaline AA / LR6 cells (1.5 V). Install eight
AA batteries in the battery case. For correct
placement of the batteries, observe the "+" and
"–" signs printed on the battery case.
After pressing the batteries into the battery case,
check that the instrument operates normally by
switching ON the instrument. The instrument
should now display the message "QuikRead"
along with the software version number. Replace
the metal cover and lock it by turning the lever
clockwise.
When the instrument is plugged into the power
supply, the batteries are cut off and last longer.
If the instrument is operated on batteries, the
power supply cable must be unplugged from the
back of the instrument.
If the voltage from the batteries becomes too low,
the instrument will notify the user by displaying
the message "Voltage too low, check batteries".
When this error message appears, replace the
batteries with new ones or use the instrument
with a power supply. To prevent leakage from
batteries, do not leave exhausted batteries inside
the instrument. Also remove batteries if they are
not going to be used for a lengthy period.
