Maintenance and care

During each maintenance procedure:
Check the axial play of the slide for wear of the spindle nut. Maximum per
S
mitted axial play is:
DMES−18
0.37 mm
If the maximum permitted axial play is exceeded:
Warning
If a worn spindle nut breaks on a vertically or diagonally installed DMES,
the work mass falls down. Uncontrolled moving masses can cause personal
injury or material damage (crushing).
S Send the DMES to Festo for repairs.
Make sure that the connection between
S
the driver and the slide is positioned so
that it is free from backlash and distor
tion.
Fig. 21 shows the critical positions.
The backlash−free setting is accomplished
using the slide screws 3 in Fig. 1.
Cleaning and maintenance:
If required, clean the cover band and guide rail with a soft cloth. Cleaning
S
agents: any non−abrasive material
Grease the cover band and the guide rail (...−GF/...−KF) when the previous layer
S
of grease is no longer visible.
Lubricant to be used for:
S
the cover band: lubricating grease
the guide rail ...−GF: lubricating grease
the guide rail ...−KF: roller bearing grease
