DMES
2
Function
A rotatable lead screw spindle converts a motor's rotation into linear motion. The
inner slide then moves backwards and forwards. The outer slide is driven by an
axially rigid connection through a slot in the profile. A cover band covers the slot in
the profile.
Note
The DMES brakes automatically: when the input torque is not applied, the slide
is braked.
However, the slide can still move at low−speed when:
the DMES is mounted vertically,
there is no holding torque at the drive trunnion,
there are vibrations.
Only the complete system (DMES with MTR−DCI) is self−locking: when the input
torque is not applied, the slide is blocked.

Application
The intended purpose of the DMES is the
slow positioning of masses with high
forces. It is permitted for the slide operat
ing mode.
Please choose from among the motors in our catalogue that are intended to be
S
used in combination with the DMES è www.festo.com/catalogue.
You will then be operating two devices which are especially matched to each
other.
Adhere to the limits for forces, torques and speeds è Chapters Technical
S
data" and Characteristic curves".
These limits apply for continuous operation. During intermittent operation
with sufficient cooling phases, the combination of force and speed may as
sume higher values in the short−term.
However, the individual maximum values for force and speed may not be ex
ceeded at any time.
