7 Contra-indications

Warning
Thermotherapy might lead to burns
Do not use on open wounds
Heating might be followed by temporary lowering of sperm count
Susceptible subjects, e.g. elderly people may suffer dehydration and temporary lowering of the
blood pressure, or symptoms including dizziness and headaches following treatment, especially to
large areas such as the back or neck/shoulders
Treatment time shall not exceed 30 minutes
Consider the risks
•
In patients presenting with severe cardiac insufficiency
•
Over superficial closed wounds, including grafted or burned wounds
•
Over body areas with superficially located metal implants
•
On hand motor skills and reaction time
•
In cases of systemic infectious disease

Lack of local thermal sensitivity on the part of the patient
•
Local areas of recent bleeding (haemorraging)
•
Devitalized skin, e.g. after deep X-ray treatment
•
Certain skin conditions, e.g. skin carcinomas, acute dematitis
•
Impaired local circulation
•
Acute polyarthritis
•
Acute neuritis
•
Eczema
•
Decompensatio Cordis
•
Tuberculosis
•
Endocarditis
•
Severe hypertonia
•
Angina pectoris
•
Severe dystonia of the autonomic neurosystem.
•
General intolerance for heat (for example during recovery)

8 Operation
Dipping body parts in the paraffin bath is not allowed.
Most heat carriers have a limited life span. It also is hygiënic to refresh you heat carrier at regulary
intervals. We recommend you to refresh your heat carrier every week when used intensly at a daily
basis. For the exact life span expectancy please look at the manual / packaging of the heat carrier.
Please ensure that you are well informed of the local rules and regulations regarding to the
removal of the heat carrier.

Adjust the thermostat to the required temperature. This temperature depends on the heat carrier:
paraffine 55 °C, Paralingo ® 60 °C à 70 °C, Parafango Battaglia ® 60 °C.

The parrafine bath can be used for:
o
pouring
o
brushing
•
Before the heat carrier will be applied, first stir well in order to obtain an evenly distributed heat and
check with a thermometer if the heat carrier is at the proper temperature.
•
For pouring the extremity is poured over with the heat carrier, and it can also be brushed at your
desire in order to evenly distribute the wax. The extremity is then packed in an isolating cover.

In patients who are confused and unreliable
