surface. Use suction hoses which are as short as possible. This allows the pump to provide the
best performance with a minimum expenditure of time for the self-suction. The duration of the
self-suction is the time which the pump requires to convey the water to the suction head during
the first operation.
Do not forget: The higher the drain, the lower the flow quantity at the drain. The type and the
size of the suction and drain hoses may have a considerable effect on the pump performance.
The performance of the drain in respect to a certain altitude is always higher than the
performance of the suction or drain with respect to a certain altitude. It is therefore important
that the suction hose is the shortest part.
Installing the pipes or suction hoses
Use flexible pipes and commercially available connections. If a suction hose is used, it must
have a durable structure and may not be bent. The hose must have a sufficient length and may
not exceed the maximum suction capacity of the pump. In this case, the pump achieves its
optimum performance if not placed too far from the surface of the water supply.
The duration of the self-suction directly depends on the length of the hose for the water supply.
Do not use a hose which has a smaller diameter than the one of the suction inlet of the pump.
Use a fastening clamp for the hose in order to securely attach the connecting piece of the
suction hose and in order to avoid air leaks and a suction loss. Check the seal in the connecting
piece of the hose that it is in good condition.
The filter mesh which corresponds to the requirements of the water pump must be installed with
a fastening clamp for the hose at the end of the hose for the water supply.
The filter mesh helps to avoid that the pump becomes clogged or damaged by debris.
Securely fix the connecting piece of the hose in the suction inlet of the pump.
connecting the drain pipes
Use flexible pipes and commercially available connections. A short hose with a large diameter
is recommended.
The recommended torque for the hose connections is 15 to 20 Nm.
It is recommended to use a short hose which has a correct diameter that corresponds to the
size of the inlets and outlets of the pump since this reduces friction of the liquids and optimizes
the drain volume of the pump.
A very long hose with a reduced diameter increases the resistance with respect to the water
flow and reduces the performance of the water pump.
