5. IMPORTANT SAFETY INFORMATION

5.1Before beginning work with the equipment
Place the pump on a solid and level surface. If the pump stands at a tilt or topples over, fuel
may leak. Do not try to pump water over a height which exceeds the admissible maximum
height for the respective equipment.
Do not use the equipment in an explosive or caustic environment.
Do not start the motor before draining the pump. Operation of the machine in dry condition may
damage the mechanical seals. In order to avoid a fire hazard and to ensure sufficient ventilation,
you should place the pump during operation with a minimum distance of 1 meter to buildings
and other equipment. Combustible objects may not be stored close to the pump. A spark
suppressor is available as an optional component for this pump. In some countries it is illegal to
operate a motor without a spark suppressor. Verify local laws and regulations before operation
5.2 Fill the tank carefully
The petrol is highly combustible and the petrol fumes are explosive. Fill the petrol tank while
outdoors or in a well-ventilated area when the motor is not running and while the pump is
standing on a level surface. Never fill the fuel tank to a level exceeding the filter mesh. Never
smoke close to the petrol and always keep flames and sparks away.
Always store the petrol in a suitable container.
Ensure that leaked fuel is completely removed before starting the motor.
5.3 Leakage of hot gases
The sound absorber heats up strongly during operation and remains hot for a while after the
motor is switched off. Make sure to not touch the sound absorber as long as it is hot. Let the
motor cool down for at least 20 minutes before transporting the pump or storing it in a closed
room. In order to avoid the risk of a fire and to ensure sufficient ventilation, the pump should be
placed during operation with a minimum distance of 1 meter to buildings and other machines.
Do not store combustible objects close to the pump.
5.4 Hazard due to carbon monoxide
The exhaust gases contain toxic carbon monoxide. Avoid inhalation of exhaust gases. Never let
the motor run in a closed workshop or in confined spaces.
