I
nstallation and operating instructions for FitStar®
gush showers and water cannons
1. LOCATION
It is recommended to position the pump to keep the distance between the pump and the fittings as short as possible. When in-
stalling the pump, please ensure that the axis of the suction line runs horizontally. If the pump needs to be relocated for structural
reasons, we recommend not exceeding a distance of 5 metres. In order to prevent unnecessary loss of pressure in the suction line,
please ensure that the pipes are installed horizontally and without kinks. For longer distances, the cross-section of the suction
line must be increased accordingly. The pump should not be located in area with an ambient temperature exceeding 40° C. The
pump must be installed below the water surface as it is not self-priming as standard. Shut-off valves and the pump itself must be
easily accessible at all times. The pump shaft must be sufficiently aerated and ventilated and fitted with floor drainage.
2. INITIAL OPERATION
Only operate the pump when the pool is filled. Do not allow the pump to run dry under any circumstances.
1.
Open both ball valves, check for leaks and turn on the unit.
2.
Check pipe connections under operating conditions.
3.
Hose couplings have to be checked during operation. Due to temperature differences it can be necessary to re-tighten the
hose clips.
3. INSTRUCTIONS FOR WINTER CARE IN OUTDOOR AREAS
The pump must be emptied. Close both ball valves and open the drain screw on the pump housing. The switch must never be
operated without voltage when non-operational (exception: maintenance work) as condensation can form. Winter use of the
piezo switch: for safety reasons, the piezo switch must be deactivated in the control box, i.e. set to winter mode!
4. TROUBLESHOOTING
4-1.
Plant does not supply sufficient power:
Pump rotating in wrong direction.
Water level not high enough.
Pump taking in air.
Ball valve not completely open.
Suction line leaking.
Pump blocked (leaves, etc.)
If no cause can be detected, please notify customer service.
4-2. Pump cannot be switched on:
For pneumatic controls: air pressure sensitivity of the adjusting screw on the pressure wave switch in the pneumatic con-
trol must be adjusted:
Tighten screw to make control more sensitive
Loosen screw to make control less sensitive
For piezo controls: check cable between piezo button and control as well as the connection assignment of the control
and the switch for summer/winter mode.
4-3. Motor protection relay switches off:
Incorrect setting of the motor protection relay – motor rated current and local conditions must comply with the setting
of the motor protection relay.
Pump overheats – let the motor cool and switch it on again.
Phase fails – check fuse.
4-4. Fault circuit interrupter switches off:
The unit definitely needs to be checked by an electrician.
