Patient Plate Monitor
SS-200E is provided with a circuit that monitors the wire continuity and plate-cable connection, switching
off the power block and issuing an intermittent audiovisual signalization. Upon the occurrence of that failure,
the red LED (10)-FAULT will switch on while an intermittent sound signal is heard and the equipment
operation is interrupted.
Haemostatic or Monopolar Forceps
The forceps cable should be connected to the same outlet (17)-ACCESSORY. Any waveform (cut or
coagulation) may be used for coagulation by monopolar forceps. Footswitch should be activated only after
the tissue has been pinched. Coagulation occurs when tissue obtains a whitish color. When that occurs,
footswitch should be deactivated.
Important Recommendation on Use of Monopolar Forceps
 Keep the forceps tip clean at all times, by removing the residues of carbonized tissue.
 Do not activate the electrosurgical unit until the forceps has made contact with the patient.
 Determine the power level that is sufficient for the particular surgical procedure . Power levels to be
used are related to the following factors:
coagulation time
size of forceps tip
volume of pinched tissue
 The higher the power level, the shorter the coagulation time. Forceps provided with thin tips require
lower power levels. The greater the volume of pinched tissue, the higher the power required for
coagulation.
Bipolar Forceps
The forceps cable should be connected to the forceps on one end, while the other end containing two
terminals should be connected to outlet (14)-BIPOLAR. The same recommendations apply to the use of
monopolar forceps.
3.6 – Finalizing Procedure
After the completion of surgical procedure, equipment should be switched off before removing the
accessories, and the patient plate should be removed from the patient. After switched off, the equipment
may follow the standard cleaning procedure (see chapter 4.10 – Warnings and/or precautions during
disinfection and cleaning).
4 – Warnings and/or Precautions To Be Adopted
4.1 – Warnings and/or precautions during transportation and storage
During transportation (packed product), avoid vibrations and impacts on the equipment.
Do not allow the equipment to be exposed to rain or excessive humidity. Avoid falls (packed product).
When the equipment is kept unused for a long period, its disconnection from the mains is recommended.
4.2 – Warnings and/or precautions during installation
Do not install the equipment close to faucets or similar devices. Do not install the equipment out of
specifications in item 3.1 – Operation Conditions, keeping away from high humidity, strong sunlight, poor
ventilation, alkaline or acid environment, dust, chlorine and sulphuric gas.
Assure that the equipment is only installed in stable places. Make sure that the equipment is in a safe place
with respect to inclination, vibration or mechanical shocks.
If the transportation unit has not been acquired together with the equipment, maintain the equipment 10 cm
away from the wall or other obstacles to allow the power cable plug to be disconnected from the socket and
the main switch on the back panel to be handled.
Determine whether the equipment voltage and frequency are compatible with the local mains. If necessary,
the equipment should be changed to the same level of local mains.
Determine whether the mains to which the equipment is connected is properly grounded.
For safety reasons, check and be sure that the equipment is not connected to a mains power source during
installation.
The general switch is used to electrically insulate the equipment from the mains (socket) in all poles .
