5.2.5 Updating the Firmware

You can carry out the frmware update of the Inverter
Manager manually. The LCS-Tool is available in the
download area at www.SMA-Solar.com.
Damage to the products due to disruption of
the update procedure
If the connection between the Inverter Manager
and the computer is disrupted, a damage to the
device may occur.
• Do not disconnect the connection between
the Inverter Manager and the computer.
• Do not disconnect the computer and
Inverter Manager from the electricity supply.
• Do not switch the computer to energy-saving
mode.
Multi-Stage Firmware Update to the
Current Version
A frmware update of versions prior to
2.00.019 to the latest version is not possible.
• If a frmware version less than 1.70 is
installed, an update to version 1.70.018
must frst be made.
• If a frmware version less than 2.00 is
installed, an update to version 2.00.019
must frst be made. This makes an update
to the current version possible.

Procedure:
1. Download the desired frmware version. Note
that the current version may not be able to be
used immediately.
2. Open the LCS-Tool.
3. Log in as an Installer.
4. Call up the menu Service.
5. Select the tab Inverter Manager under
Software Update.
6. Select [Start update].
☑ An update assistant guides you through the
frmware update of the Inverter Manager.
7. If a multi-step update to the current frmware
version is required, perform a frmware update
of the Inverter Manager again. To do this,
repeat all previous steps.
8. Select the tab Inverters under Software
Update.
9. Mark all inverters and select [Start update].
☑ The Inverter Manager updates the frmware of
the inverters. When Progress shows 100 %,
the frmware update of the inverter is complete.
10. If the frmware update for speci f c inverters fails
(the display under Progress does not reach
100%), perform the frmware update of the
affected inverters one after the other.
