Safety checks

To ensure proper functioning of the instrument, it should be subjected
to regular safety inspections.
These safety inspections should be performed annually by the
manufacturer or a manufacturer authorised specialist and the results
recorded in the instrument logbook.
These inspections should also be performed when the instrument has
been out of use for more than one year.
The inspection should include the following procedures:

Protective earth resistance with power cable:

Measurements should be carried out on all conductive
parts which could carry hazardous voltages in the event of
a fault.
Earth leakage current: Earth leakage current is to be
measured while the instrument is in operation using a
standard meter (Measurement instructions must be
observed!).
≤ 0.5 mA in acc. with IEC 60601-1 or (in Germany only)
≤ 1 mA stand-by unit leakage current in acc. with DIN
VDE 0751
Visual inspection
Safety inspection
Foot switch, hand switch
Safety switch-off, if actual energy deviates from nominal
energy
Remote interlock contact
Threshold values for pulse modes 1, 2, 3
Optical breakdown in air
Function test
Acceptance protocol
Check adjustment of the therapy laser to the slit lamp.
Check adjustment of the aiming beam to the therapy laser
beam.
Check internal energy meter.
Cleaning of the slit lamp lens
Preparation of the instrument for use and handing it over to the user.
Note for VISULAS YAG III Combi:
Safety inspection
Visual check of the physician's safety filter
Safety switch-off, if the actual energy deviates from the
nominal energy
Acceptance protocol
Check the power output of the aiming beam and therapy
beam downstream of the applicator
