Safety Notes
Hazards caused by direct exposure and reflection
The instrument emits invisible and visible laser radiation that is
hazardous to the human eye and skin.
Do not expose the eye or skin to direct or scattered radiation! Metal
and other surfaces reflect laser beams. All persons present in the
laser hazard area must therefore wear laser safety goggles as a
precaution against unintentional direct or reflected laser radiation.
Remove or cover any shiny, reflecting objects within the laser hazard
area.
Windows and reflecting walls should also be covered with non-
flammable cloths.
Safety precautions for dealing with noxious gases, dust and vapours,
secondary radiation or explosive gas mixtures which may be
produced by exposure of materials within the laser hazard area to
laser radiation should be put in place.
Only medical instruments which largely exclude hazardous
reflections due to their design and surface finish should be brought
into the laser beam path.
Faults
If, during testing or operation of the laser system, faults occur which
cannot be remedied by following the instructions given in the
section Maintenance / Miscellaneous, the instrument should be
switched off, the power cable disconnected and the instrument
clearly labelled as being out of order.
Inform the responsible service technician.
