In vehicles with a Rekluse clutch, it will appear to the rider that the transmission is in neutral when the engine
is running at idle speed even if a gear is engaged. If the rider is unaware of this and opens the throttle while
a gear is engaged, the motorcycle may start moving unexpectedly. When stationary, do not open the throttle
excessively if you have not ensured that the transmission is in neutral. Before the gear is engaged, the engine
must be running at idle speed and the brake must be actuated. If the throttle hangs up, the kill switch or the
emergency OFF switch must be actuated to switch off the engine.
Riding downhill in vehicles with a Rekluse clutch requires a change in the riding style since the gear is disen-
gaged below a certain engine speed. When the Rekluse clutch is disengaged, there is no engine braking effect.
When you roll downhill in a low gear without the engine braking effect and the vehicle accelerates to a high
speed, opening the throttle at this point puts too high a load on the engine; the rear wheel is braked hard and
may lock.
This may cause an accident or damage the engine.
