GENERAL: Turn instrument on by turning function/range switch away
from OFF and selecting the parameter you want to measure. Six switch
positions have dual functions (resistance/continuity, diode/capacitance,
four AC/DC current ranges). How to select either is explained under the
respective function.
measurement unit displayed. In the example shown you would be in the
40V AC range. Hold a range by pressing the RANGE button. Cycle
through ranges by continuing to depress RANGE. Press and hold RANGE
button for two seconds to return to Autoranging.
Bargraph: The 40-segment bargraph indicates at which percentage of
the range you presently measure. It updates 20 times per second, and,
like an analog needle display, it is ideal for circuit adjustments.
Display Hold: When you need to concentrate on your circuit, you can
push the HOLD button to keep the reading on the display. "HLD" appears
in the display. Push the HOLD button again to resume normal display of
current value. (Automatic shut-down is disabled while "HLD" is
displayed).
General Measurement Procedures: When connecting or
disconnecting test leads to a circuit, always first turn off power to device
or circuit being tested and discharge all capacitors. Strictly observe
the max input limits. Do not change functions while test leads are
connected to circuit.
