3. Temporarily clamp frame plate on frame with the side having two holes outboard and bottom of frame plate in contact
with bottom of frame. Use a c-clamp to temporarily clamp the frame bracket to the frame. Minimal clamping pressure is
needed for this operation. The c-clamp can be used as shown below on the inside or the outside of the frame. The
clamp can also be placed horizontally under the frame if there are obstructions on top of the frame. Position frame
plate for reference at a distance of approximately 20" from center of hitch ball socket to the yoke pivot bolt (for Reese
High Performance spring bars). Measure horizontally, not at an angle down to the bolt head. Frame Plate can be
positioned in either position shown to accommodate frame interference. (See figure below.) It may be necessary to
adjust frame plate position on frame for certain coupler and frame combinations.
4. Again, make sure the bottom of the frame plate is in contact with the
bottom of the trailer frame.

instruction sheet 66006IN for trunnion or 65590IN for round bar styles.
1. Connect trailer to tow vehicle. Tow vehicle and trailer should be on level ground and in a straight line. Raise trailer tongue
and rear of tow vehicle with jack. Install spring bar trunnion in ball mount. Spring bars may be used on either side. Align the
spring bar detent to the cam arms. With the ends of u-bolt facing inward, slip keyed slot of hanger bracket over button on
end of cam arm, rotate to vertical, and pull chain vertical. Lower the front of the trailer so it is setting level again. Place a link
of chain on hook of the snap-up bracket. Use the link the furthest down the chain that allows you to close the snap-up
bracket by hand, without the supplied tube to assist. Make sure that slot of the hanger bracket is fully engaged in slot of cam
y
arm.
2. Trial fit the spring bar in assembly as shown to the right above. Confirm that the cam is approximately ½" forward of the detent in
the spring bar. This will ensure that the cam arm will be approximately in the detent of the spring bar as it is raised by the snap up
bracket when under a load. It may be necessary to adjust frame plate position on frame for certain coupler and frame combinations.
Slightly loosen the square head bolt and adjust the frame bracket in the direction needed to get the cam and the spring bar detent
aligned. Again tighten the bolt ¼ turn after contact with the frame.
