These tests are performed before the installation of
the sealing material, if the presence of such material is
planned on the surface of the host structure receiving
the anchors.

11. Prohibited uses

Use of the travflex™ 2 lifeline in compliance with the
recommendations specified in this manual offers
guaranteed of safety.
However, it is important to warn the installer, the
supervisor and the operator against the prohibited
handling and uses.
IT IS STRICTLY FORBIDDEN:
– to install or use the travflex™ 2 lifeline without being
authorised, trained and recognized as competent or
failing that, without being under the supervision of a
person who is authorised, trained and recognized as
competent,
– to use the travflex™ 2 lifeline if one of the markings on
the line, on the slider, or on the information plate is not
present or readable (see section 18),
– to install or use the travflex™ 2 lifeline if it has not
been checked beforehand,
– to use the travflex™ 2 lifeline for any application other
than that described in this manual and in particular, to
use the lifeline as an anchor point for a lifting system,
– to install the travflex™ 2 lifeline on a structure where
the preliminary study (see section 5) has not been
performed or whose conclusions were unfavourable
to the installation of the line,
– to use the travflex™ 2 lifeline in any manner other
than that described in this manual,
– to use a lifeline travflex™ 2 by more than 3 operators
with a maximum weight of 100kg or 2 operators with a
maximum weight of 150kg at a time,
– to use the fall arrest anchor point on the bend plate
or end anchor if at least one operator is using the
associated travflex™ 2 lifeline,
– use of the fall arrest anchorage for one person on the
bend plate or end anchor beyond an angle of + / - 90°,
– to use the travflex™ 2 lifeline if it is not equipped with
an INRS shock absorber at each end,
– to use a travflex™ 2 lifeline that has arrested the fall
of an operator,
– to use the travflex™ 2 lifeline as a means of
suspension or to anchor yourself,
– to use the travflex™ 2 lifeline in explosive
atmospheres,
– to use the travflex™ 2 lifeline in highly corrosive
atmospheres,
– to use the travflex™ 2 lifeline outside the temperature
range of –35°C to +80°C,
– to use the travflex™ 2 lifeline if the vertical clearance
is insufficient in case of fall of one or more persons or
if there is an obstacle in the fall trajectory,
– to make repairs to the travflex™ 2 lifeline without
having read and understood this manual,
– to use the travflex™ 2 lifeline if you are not physically
fit,
– to authorise the use of the travflex™ 2 lifeline by a
pregnant woman,
– to use the travflex™ 2 lifeline if no rescue plan has
been established beforehand for an eventual fall of
one or more operator,
– to use the travflex™ 2 lifeline if the safety function of
one component is affected by the safety function of
another item or interferes therewith,
– to use the slider with the EN 362 wire connector
placed in the tilting opening or if the wire diameter is
greater than 11 mm,
– to carry out dynamic acceptance testing of the
travflex™ 2 lifeline,
– to carry out a tensile acceptance test on the end
anchors (section 10),
– to pull on the travsmart slider in order to disengage
from an obstacle,
– to connect or disconnect the lifeline cable at a place
other than that or those provided for this purpose,
– to pass the lifeline or PPE lanyards around sharp
edges or to use them when there is rubbing on hard
surfaces,
– to install a travflex™ 2 lifeline on an inclined floor with
a slope exceeding 15° relative to the horizontal,
– to install a travflex™ 2 lifeline on a horizontal or
sloping installation plane with an angle of deflection
of the cable in the installation layout, exceeding 10°
when passing over intermediary or bend anchors,
– to install a travflex™ 2 lifeline on a vertical installation
plane with an angle of deflection of the cable in the
installation layout, exceeding 15° when passing over
an intermediary anchor,
– to install a travflex™ 2 bend anchor on an interface
plate or a structural anchor whose breaking strength
is less than 20 kN.
– to install a travflex™ 2 intermediary or end anchor
on an interface plate or a structural anchor whose
breaking strength is less than 15 kN,
– to install the travflex™ 2 lifeline on interface plates
that are not made by Tractel
– to install and use a travflex™ 2 lifeline on which
distances between anchors is greater than 15 m,
– to use the travflex™ 2 lifeline with any other means of
connection to the line other than the travsmart slider,
– to use other components than genuine Tractel
travflex™ 2 components,
– to install a lifeline on a level below that of movement
of the operator.
– to use a travflex™2 lifeline by an operator whose
weight, including equipment and tools, is more than
150 kg.
– to use a travflex™2 lifeline by an operator whose
weight is between 100 kg and 150 kg (total weight
of the operator, including equipment and tools) if a
component of the fall arrest system has a lower
maximum operating load.
