REMOVING THE FRONT WHEEL

Position the motorcycle in such a way that the front
wheel is lifted from the ground.
Unscrew the two screws (1) and remove the brake
calliper (2).
Loosen the bolts (3) holding the wheel shaft (4) to the
fork leg supports. Hold the head of the wheel shaft in
place, and unscrew the bolt (5) on the opposite side;
draw the wheel shaft out.
Note
Do not operate the brake lever when the wheel has
been removed; this causes the calliper pistons to
move outwards. After removal, lay down the wheel
with brake disc facing up.
REFITTING THE FRONT WHEEL
Fit the LH spacer on the wheel hub.
Fit the wheel between the fork legs.
Fit the previously greased wheel shaft (4) from the
right-hand side until it is fully home on the wheel
bearing; it is advisable to turn the wheel while carrying
out this operation. Tighten the screw (5) on the fork LH
side but DO NOT lock it.
Now, pump for a while, pushing the handlebar
downwards until you are sure that the fork legs are
perfectly aligned. Lock: the screws (3) on the RH leg
(10.4 Nm - 1.06 Kgm - 7.67 ft/lb), the screw (5) on the LH
side (50 Nm - 5.09 Kgm - 36.87 ft/lb), and the screws (3)
on the LH leg (10.4 Nm - 1.06 Kgm - 7.67 ft/lb).
Fit the brake calliper (2) on the disc, assemble it on the
relevant support and tighten the two screws (1) to 25.5
Nm - 2.6 Kgm - 18.8 ft/lb using Loctite 243 (medium
threalocker). Ensure that the brake disc slides between
the calliper pads without any friction or hard spots.
Note
After reassembly, pull the brake control lever until
the pads are against the brake disc.
