• When lifting, check whether:
– the load has jammed or is stuck
– the load is suspended horizontally
– all legs are bearing the load evenly
If there is a risk of the load tipping over, it must be set
down and the lifting straps repositioned. The test lift
must be repeated until the stability of the load is ensured.
• Loads that are hanging at an angle must be set down
and the lifting straps repositioned so that horizontal
lifting can take place.
• Make sure that the load remains under control during
the lifting procedure. No inadvertent rotation or
a collision with other objects may occur.
• If suspension gear is used in such a way that not all
legs are loaded, the unused legs must be hung up in
the suspension ring. Accordingly, the working load
limit is reduced to that of the legs used. This is only
permitted after documented training by an expert.
• Hang up frozen or wet lifting straps in well-ventilated
rooms or allow them to dry in the air before the next use.
• Never raise or lower the load with a jerk. Stress due to
tearing or jerking must be avoided, as it increases the
forces acting on the lifting strap.
• Hands and other bodily parts must be kept away from
the attachment devices as soon as they become taut –
risk of injury, crushing!
To lift the load without it twisting or overturning, the
following conditions must be adhered to:
a) Single-leg attachment devices must be positioned
vertically above the centre of gravity of the load.
b) In case of two-legged suspension gear, the lifting straps
must be located evenly either side of and above the
centre of gravity of the load.
c) In case of four-legged suspension gear, the lifting straps
must be evenly distributed in one plane around the
centre of gravity of the load and above the centre of
gravity of the load.

11. Inspection and
maintenance instructions
Regular inspection ensures safe operation
• The attachment device may only be inspected by an
expert.
• The inspection must be done at least annually or in
accordance with the test periods defined by the
company. In accordance with the conditions of use
and the operational conditions, additional inspections
may be necessary during the year. The qualified
person shall determine these accordingly.
• The inspections must be documented, e. g. similar to
the provisions of the DGUV rule 100-500
• Metallic fittings, if any, must additionally be subjected
to a crack test at least every 3 years.
– The test must be performed according to
EN 10228 Part 1 (magnetic particle inspection)
or Part 2 (liquid penetrant inspection).
11.1 Repairing the lifting straps
The lifting straps can only be repaired if the correspon-
ding EC declaration of conformity or the test certificate
for the lifting strap is available.
A repair is possible if, for example,
• a replaceable fitting is damaged;
• the loop reinforcement is damaged.
Repairs may only be carried out by the
manufacturer.
