3.3.5 TRIAL SOWING
For precise sowing, we recommend performing a trial sowing
with the machine stationary to check the desired quantity to be
sown by proceeding. In this case, the seeding test must be carried
out with the machine raised, as the test involves rotating the
rotating harrow roller. Place a canvas under the equipment to
collect the seed.
IMPORTANT
Remember that when sowing large seed (peas, soy beans,
etc.), it is advisable to disconnect the seed agitator shaft from
the transmission (Fig. 18) to avoid damage to the seed itself.
During the sowing test, pay attention to the points at which
there are parts in movement: seed agitator shaft, dosing
rollers, etc..
To allow for a wider range of seed quantity distributed per hectare
(Kg/ha) a transmission with double coupling for the transmission
axis has been made (U1 and U2, Fig. 19). The table shows all
the adjustments that need to be made prior to starting seeding:
- Position the dosing roller opening lever according to the quantity
to be distributed.
- Position the feeler pin lever.
- Depending on the quantity to be distributed, hook the
transmission cardan to position U1 or U2 (see Figure 19).
Once the machine has been set, proceed as follows:
1) Fill the seed hopper to mid-load.
2) Insert the handle in the transmission shaft and turn anti-
clockwise as shown by the arrow in Figure 19.
3) Insert the crank (Fig. 19) on the gearbox shaft and rotate
clockwise.
4) Turn the crank the number of turns given in the SEEDER
HANDLE TURNS table (Cap. 3.3.4) for the type of seeder
being used.
5) Weigh the seed collected in the trays and multiply the weight
by 100 or 40, depending on the number of rotations made.
The value obtained is the number of kilograms distributed
per hectare.
6) It is now possible to adjust the quantity to be distributed in
the best way, by adjusting the lever position (A, Fig. 17).

The Seeding Index Tables are only indicative since for the same seed type the quantities distributed can vary considerable due to the
presence of dust, humidity and variations in specific gravity. In oder to drill well and precisely, it is recommended that a test be made with
the machine stationary and make adjustements as may prove necessary.
