6 Operation
6.1 Filling and Venting the Filter Unit
Requirements
— The filter unit is in the filtration position.
— The air filter is clamped in the air filter holder.
— The valve actuators are mounted.
CAUTION
Risk of injury due to escaping liquid!
Liquid may escape if tubes burst or if there are leaks in the connection areas.
People may be injured as a result.
Observe the maximum operating pressures (see details on the filter unit

label).
If using an Advanced venting tubing set: Check that the tri-clamp con-
t
nections are fitted securely and retighten if necessary.
Use a measurement device for pressure monitoring.
t
Do not leave the process unsupervised.
t
Procedure
Put all valve actuators in the [close] position.
t
Take the inlet tube out of the plastic bag and remove the cable ties.
t
Connect the inlet tube (for connection, see connector instructions).
t
Take the outlet tube out of the plastic bag and remove the cable ties.
t
Connect the outlet tube (for connection, see connector instructions).
t
Put the inlet valve actuator (1) and the venting valve actuator (2) in the
t
[open] position.
Start the filling process. Comply with the maximum flow rate of 5 L/min.

The filter unit is filled.

NOTICE The air filter is blocked if it comes into contact with liquid or
t
foam! If the clear tank begins to fill with liquid or foam: Stop the flow rate.
Slowly move the filter unit to and fro several times with the swivel func-
t
tion.
If required: Adjust the height of the system rail with the air filter holder to
t
prevent kinks in the venting tube.
The rest of the air escapes through the air filter.

If the liquid level in the clear tank drops significantly:
t
Refill with a reduced flow rate.
t
If the clear tank begins to fill with liquid or foam: Stop the flow rate.
t
Put the inlet valve actuator in the [close] position.
t
Put the venting valve actuator in the [close] position.
t
The filter unit is filled and vented.
