SAFETY IN MAINTENANCE

ƒ Disconnect the power take-off,
the tractor engine and remove
the ignition key before adjusting,
lubricating, or servicing the
machine. Never attempt to
perform repairs or adjustments
on the connected machine.
ƒ Always put all tractor hydraulic
controls in the neutral position
before turning it off or working on
the hydraulic system.
ƒ Ma ke s ur e tha t all s y s tem
components are kept in good
condition.
ƒ Replace crushed or damaged
hoses immediately.
ƒ In case of high pressure hydraulic
fluid injury, seek medical advice
immediately. Severe infection or
toxic reaction can develop from
the hydraulic fluid that perforates
the surface of the skin.
ƒ Wear suitable hand and eye
protection when looking for a high
pressure hydraulic leak. Use a
piece of wood or card instead of
using your hands to isolate and
identify a hydraulic fluid leak.
ƒ Movable components, due to
inertia, continue to move for some
time after the machine is turned
off. Before touching any part of
the machine, turn off the power
source, look and listen if there is
no evidence of movement. Only
touch a component if you are sure
it is motionless. Always be attentive!
ƒ HYDRAULIC SYSTEM
ƒ If it is necessary to work on the machine
suspended by the hydraulic, it must be supported
in a safe way. Hydraulic mechanisms may fall
by themselves or due to leaks and result in an
accident.
ƒ Do not support the machine on cement blocks,
hollow bricks or other supports that may collapse
under prolonged loads.
ƒ Never work under a machine that is only
supported by a jack, always use a safe support.
ƒ Always put all tractor hydraulic controls in the
neutral position before turning it off or working
on the hydraulic system.
ƒ Make sure that all system components are kept
in good condition.
ƒ Immediately replace damaged, cut, crushed
hoses.
