5. If the fire burns well but sometimes smokes or
burns slowly, it may be caused by the chimney top
being lower than another part of the house or a
nearby tree. The wind blowing over a house or
tree, falls on top of the chimney like water over
a dam, beating down the smoke. The top of the
chimney should be at least 3 feet above the roof
and be at least to 2 feet higher than any point of
the roof within 10 feet.
CAUTION: A CHIMNEY FIRE MAY CAUSE
IGNITION OF WALL STUDS OR RAFTERS
WHICH WERE ASSUMED TO BE A SAFE
DISTANCE FROM THE CHIMNEY. IF A
CHIMNEY FIRE HAS OCCURRED, HAVE YOUR
CHIMNEY INSPECTED BY A QUALIFIED
EXPERT BEFORE USING AGAIN.
OPERATION

• HOT WHILE IN OPERATION. KEEP CHILDREN,
CLOTHING AND FURNITURE AWAY. CONTACT
MAY CAUSE SKIN BURNS.
• DO NOT BURN GARBAGE OR FLAMMABLE
FLUIDS SUCH AS GASOLINE, NAPHTHA OR
ENGINE OIL.
• NEVER USE GASOLINE, GASOLINE-TYPE
LANTERN FUEL, KEROSENE, CHARCOAL
LIGHTER FLUID, OR SIMILAR LIQUIDS TO
START OR "FRESHEN UP" A FIRE IN THE
HEATER. KEEP ALL SUCH LIQUIDS WELL
AWAY FROM THE HEATER WHILE IT IS IN
USE.
• OVERFIRING THE APPLIANCE MAY CAUSE
A HOUSE FIRE. IF A UNIT OR CHIMNEY
CONNECTOR GLOWS, YOU ARE OVERFIRING.
WARNING: NEVER STORE FLAMMABLE
LIQUIDS, ESPECIALLY GASOLINE. IN THE
VICINITY OF THE HEATER.
DO NOT OBSTRUCT THE SPACE BENEATH
THE HEATER.
NEVER OPERATE THIS HEATER WITH THE
FUEL DOOR OPEN.
USE ONLY THE LEGS PROVIDED WITH THIS
HEATER. REFER TO THE "INSTALLATION"
SECTION OF THIS MANUAL.

CAUTION: USE WOOD OR WOOD-LIKE
MATERIALS ONLY. DO NOT USE COAL OR
CHARCOAL. COAL OR CHARCOAL WILL
DESTROY THE FIREBOX. DO NOT USE DRIED
LUMBER OR TREATED WOOD.
WARNING: BURNING FUELS OTHER THAN
CRIBWOOD, PARTICULARLY COAL AND
CHARCOAL, CAN RESULT IN HAZARDOUS
CONCENTRATIONS OF CARBON MONOXIDE
BEING EMITTED INTO THE DWELLING. FOR
THESE REASONS, NEVER BURN COAL OR
CHARCOAL IN THIS CRIBWOOD STOVE.
INSTALLING A CARBON MONOXIDE
DETECTOR AND BEING AWARE OF THE
SYMPTOMS OF CARBON MONOXIDE
POISONING CAN HELP REDUCE THE RISK OF
CARBON MONOXIDE RELATED ISSUES.
CAUTION:
NEVER ATTEMPT TO USE ANY OF
THE FOLLOWING MATERIALS AS FUEL:
• Unseasoned wood (green, wet, or freshly cut
wood);
• Railroad ties or pressure treated wood;
• Paper products, cardboard, or particleboard;
• Salt water driftwood or other previously salt
water saturated materials;
• Construction or demolition debris
• Garbage;
• Animal remains or manures;
• Lawn clippings or yard waste;
• Waste petroleum products,
• Materials containing
— asbestos
— plastic
— rubber (including tires)
• Petroleum products such as
— paints
— paint thinners
— asphalt products
Burning these materials may result in release of toxic
fumes or render the heater ineffective and cause
smoke.
The operation of this wood heater in a manner
inconsistent with the owner's manual will void your
warranty and is also against federal regulations.
