AirFlow S2
The Piezon unit
Preparing for treatment
The Piezon unit includes three different instruments (8-10). Each instrument has a
letter engraved in its thread. Select the correct instrument (8-10) for the type of
treatment planned.
-
Instrument A (8)
Removing supragingival calculus
-
Instrument B (9)
Removing thin deposits from the lingual surfaces
-
Instrument C (10)
Removing thick, hard deposits from extensive areas
Plug the Piezon handpiece (7) onto the Piezon handpiece hose (6).
Fit the instrument (8-10) required for the treatment to the Piezon handpiece (7). First
tighten the instrument (8-10) gently by hand. Then use the torque wrench (11) to
tighten the instrument. Continue turning until the torque wrench (11) becomes difficult
to turn - then turn one additional quarter-turn. The instrument (8-10) will then have
been tightened properly.
Switch the AirFlow S2 on at the power switch (22). The green control lamp (2) illuminates.
Begin adjusting the ultrasonic setting and the water flow rate. Remove the Piezon
handpiece (7) from its holder (5). The Piezon handpiece holder (5) includes a safety
mechanism which prevents the handpiece being operated inadvertently as long as it is in
the holder. The safety mechanism also prevents the AirFlow unit being operated as long
as the Piezon handpiece hose (6) is not in the holder (5).
Adjust the ultrasonic setting by turning the "Power" knob (4). The ultrasonic setting can
be adjusted according to the type of deposit, the instrument (8-10) selected and the
tooth structure. You can adjust the ultrasonic setting progressively from the lowest
setting, via the low and medium settings, up to the highest setting.
