3.1
Selection of the Anchor Point
To use the UNIDRIVE, anchor points each with a minimum load-bearing capacity of 10 kN are re-
quired (EU regulation). When being used outside the EU, the country-specific requirements for the
strength of the anchor points are applicable.
3.2
Anchoring the UNIDRIVE
The UNIDRIVE is fixed to the anchor point. In doing so, it must be ensured that no knots or kinks are
formed in the lifting gear. The lifting gear must hang straight and free, otherwise and the use of the
UNIDRIVE without risk is not possible.
The anchoring of the UNIDRIVE must not be carried out in areas where there is the danger of falling.
As soon as the activity has to be carried out at an edge fall point, a fall arrest system in accordance
with EN 363, consisting of a full body harness in accordance with EN 361, fasteners, lanyards etc. in
accordance with EN 354 and a fall damping component in accordance with EN 355 must be used.
3.3
Putting on the Full Body Harness
In a safe place, the full body harness in accordance with EN 361 or a rescue harness in accordance
with EN 1497 is put on according to its operating instructions and the belt straps pulled tight. After a
load test with own body weight all the belt straps are adjusted again.
3.4
Downwards Movement (Rescue of an Accident Victim)
The UNIDRIVE descender device must only be used by persons who have been instructed in its safe
use and who have the appropriate knowledge.
Attention:
When descending, do not allow the rope to run over sharp edges. Protect ropes
against sharp-edged objects, welding sparks, chemicals, extreme temperatures or other destructive or
damaging hazards.
Wear protective gloves.
Remove the descender device with the lifting gear from the plastic bag so that the karabiner on the de-
scender device can be hooked into an anchor point. (See Illustration 1)
Hook the karabiner at the top end of the descent rope into the attachment point on the rescue harness
EN 1497 / ANSI Z359.4 or full body harness EN 361 / ANSI Z359.1 and secure it. (See Illustration 2).
(Use exclusively anchor eyelets (marked with "A"))
Throw down the plastic bag with the remaining lifting gear. The rope must hang free of loops and
reach down to the lower situated descent point. (See Illustration 3)
