UNIDRIVE Working Device
UNIDRIVE working devices are used for the vertical movement of building structures such as, for ex-
ample, facades, chimneys or wind turbines when it is not sensible to erect scaffolding due to the short
duration of the operation.
For downwards movement procedures, the UNIDRIVE devices are equipped with centrifugal force
brakes which ensure a constant descent velocity for the person being rescued. The devices are so
constructed that the brake unit works completely independently of the rope unit. Thereby smooth func-
tioning is guaranteed even in bad weather conditions as no moisture from the ropes affects the brake
unit.
For the movement, these devices are additionally equipped with an adapter on the handwheel to
which a commercially available cordless screwdriver can be fitted. With the aid of the cordless screw-
driver, the user can carry out the lifting function without a great deal of effort. A friction clutch inte-
grated into the handwheel prevents the overloading of the device.
The technical basis of the up and down travel devices is the "European Directive 2006/42/EC of the
th
European Parliament and Council concerning machines of the 17
of May, 2006".
13. General
The manufacturer accepts no liability whatsoever arising from incorrect and / or improper operation or
the unsafe operating condition of the UNIDRIVE during commissioning. Therefore it is very important
that these operating instructions are read and understood. Please do not hesitate to contact the manu-
facturer in the event of queries.
The operating company (owner) of the equipment is obliged to make these operating instructions
available to all operators of the UNIDRIVE and also to ensure that they are read and understood be-
fore commissioning. The Chapters Commissioning the Equipment, Operating the Equipment and
Warning Information especially are of great importance for the safe and effective use of the working
device.
13.1 Correct and Proper Use
UNIDRIVE can be used as a vertical travel device without limitations with an adequately sized cord-
less screwdriver. Here, depending upon the work situation, the person can independently control the
movement or an external assistant can carry out the upward movement from a higher workstation. The
vertical upwards movement or rescue procedure is carried out manually by the operation of the hand-
wheel, the lifting ratchet or, with longer travel distances, by the use of a cordless screwdriver fitted to
the adapter of the handwheel. (refer to chapter 0, general warnings item warnings on the torque
