By slowly guiding the free lifting gear, the operator can now control the speed of the descent and stop
it at any time.
If the rope has not been guided over the eyebolt, the downward movement is stopped by the body of
the descender device being held with one hand and the other hand being pressed against the rotating
handwheel until the system comes to a standstill. Through the transmission ratio of the gearbox and
the design of the handwheel, the stopping is possible easily and free of risk of injury even from full
speed.
9.5 Lifting Procedure
The changing over of the direction of travel is done by moving the travel direction lever. If the lever is
pointing to the "yellow" position this indicates upwards travel, the "red" position indicates downwards
travel.
The changing over can only be done in the load-free condition of the release head, this means the
person must be held with the hand.
To change from downwards to upwards travel, the travel direction lever must be simply moved to "yel-
low". Upward travel begins immediately with the manual lift activation or with the activation of the cord-
less screwdriver.
For lifting motion, either the handwheel, the ratchet lever or a cordless screwdriver attachable to the
handwheel can be used. If a descent movement is to follow a lifting movement with the cordless
screwdriver, the screwdriver must be pulled out of the handwheel adapter beforehand. The notes on
the torque limiter are to be observed (refer chapter 0, general warnings item warnings on the torque
limiter)
Switching to downwards travel can, likewise, only be done in the load-free condition of the release
head, this means the descent load must be held with the handwheel.
