FALLING OFF TREES
Direction of cut
Drill cutting

Decide the direction in which crashes the tree, taking into account wind direction, the
inclination of the tree, the location of heavy branches, ease of the tasks one after felling and
other related factors.
2.
Clean the area around the tree, have a good footing and a safe escape route.
3.
Notch up one third of diameter of the tree trunk on the side of cut.
4.
Make a felling cut in and opposite the notch, at a level slightly above the bottom of the
notch.
WARNING
Before felling a tree, be sure to warn workers of the danger.
Trace and cut branches
WARNING
Make sure you have a firm footing. Do not stand on the trunk.
Take special care to make this work, since the log may roll to one side. When
working on a slope, stand higher than the trunk.
Follow the instructions days in the "Safety Standards" to avoid the risk of decline in
the greencut.
Before starting work, check the direction of the bending force and inside the trunk to be cut. The
cut is always on the side opposite to the direction of the bending force to prevent the guide bar to
become trapped in the cut.
A log resting on the ground
Cut a slit halfway down the trunk. Turn the log over and finish the
cut from the other side.
