Maintenance and repair

solvents such as methylene chloride or
1, 1, 1-trichloroethane in this pump.
An explosion can result with aluminium
and/or zinc-plated parts in pump come
in contact with halogenated hydrocar-
bon solvents.

WARNING
Release all pressure within system prior
to performing any overhaul procedure.
• Disconnect air supply line from pump
motor.
• Into an appropriate container, operate
control valve to discharge remaining
pressure within system.
Failure to comply may lead to per-
sonal injury.
WARNING
Do not point a control valve at any
portion of body or another person.
Accidental discharge of pressure and/or
material can occur.
Failure to comply may lead to death or
serious personal injury.
Overhaul
NOTE
Refer to Fig. IPB 1, page 15 for
component identification for all
overhaul procedures.
Disassembly
Separate pump tube
from air motor
1 Clamp air motor (1) horizontally in a
soft-jaw vise at wrench flats on
air inlet body.
2 Unscrew tube from air inlet body.
NOTE
Support pump tube during removal.
Damage to components can occur.
3 Remove cotter pin (4) that secures air
motor's rod to piston rod (5).
4 Unscrew pump rod with attached
components from air motor's rod.
Rotate entire pump tube.
5 Remove air motor's tube from body (11).

Pump tube
Body
6 Remove o-ring (10) from body.
7 Unscrew packing screw (6) from body.
8 Unscrew cylinder (17) from body.
Use bung adapter (18) as leverage.
9 Remove piston rod (5) (with attached
components) from body.
10 Remove gasket (16) from body.
11 Remove back-up ring (7), packings (8),
and support ring (9) from body.
Piston rod
12 Unscrew seat (15) from piston rod.
Insert punch or similar tool through hole
in rod.
13 Remove ball (14), washer (12), pack-
ing (13), and additional washer (12) from
seat.
Valve body
14 Unscrew cylinder (with bung adapter)
from valve body (21).
15 Remove gasket (16), stop washer (19),
additional gasket (16), and ball (20) from
valve body.
Low-level cut-off valve
16 Unscrew nipple (22) from valve body and
bushing (23) as required.
17 Unscrew bushing from low-level cut-off
valve (24) as required.
18 Remove bung adapter (18) from cylinder
as required.
