(104°F). Overheating the battery can result in
explosion or fire.
• When connecting the charger, make sure that the
cord is not trampled, tripped or subjected to other
damage or pressure. Damaged or entangled cords
increase the risk of electric shock.
• Lithium-ion batteries are subject to the Dangerous
Goods Legislation requirements.
For commercial transports e.g. by third parties,
forwarding agents, special requirement on packaging
and labelling must be observed. For preparation of the
item being shipped, consulting an expert for hazard-
ous material is required. Please also observe possibly
more detailed national regulations. Tape or mask off
open contacts and pack up the battery in such a man-
ner that it cannot move around in the packaging.
• Do not nail, cut, crush, throw, drop or hit the battery
or charger against a hard object. Such conduct may
result in a fire, excessive heat, or explosion.

Meaning
Charger is in standby
Battery is being charged
Battery is 80% charged
Battery is fully charged
Battery is too hot - waiting
to cool down
Battery is unchargeable
∙ Battery cartridge that has been left for a long
time in a location exposed to cold air.
∙ When the battery cartridge is too hot, charging
will begin after the cooling fan installed in the
charger cools the battery cartridge. Charging
will begin after the battery cartridge tempera-
ture reaches the degree at which charging is
possible. When the temperature on battery is
more than approx. 50°C - 70°C (122°F to 158°F),
two charging lights may flash in red colour, and
when approx. 50°C – 70°C (122°F to 158°F), one
charging light in red colour.
• If the charging light flashes alternately in green and
red colour, charging is not possible. The terminals
on the charger or battery cartridge are clogged
with dust or the battery cartridge is worn out or
damaged.
Installing or removing the battery
• Always make sure that the trigger is locked (HC-
9 / HCS-8) and the battery is removed before adjust-
ing or checking function on the tool.
• Always lock the trigger (HC-9 / HCS-8) before
installing or removing the battery.
• Before the battery is inserted into the tool, ensure
the trigger (HC-8 / HCS-7) is not pressed and the
trigger lock (HC-9 / HCS-8) is locked.
• H old the tool and the battery firmly when installing
or removing battery. Failure to hold the tool and the
battery firmly may cause them to slip off your hands
and result in damage to the tool and battery and a
personal injury.
• Do not install the battery forcibly. If the battery
does not slide in easily, it may be due to improper
insertion method.
• Install battery (Fig. A):
∙ Align the tongue (5) on the battery (4) with the
groove in the housing (2) and slip it into place.
∙ Insert it all the way until it locks in place with a
little click.
∙ If the battery (4) can be easily pulled out without
pressing the button (3) after it is inserted, it
means that the battery pack is not completely
locked. It may then accidentally fall out of the tool
causing injury to you or someone around you.
• Remove battery (Fig. A):
∙ Slide the battery (4) from the tool (1) while press-
ing the button (3) on the front of the battery.
Battery indicator (Fig. B)
• Push the button (1) to activate the battery indicator.
• The remaining capacity is indicated by 3 LEDs.
Installing side handle (Fig. C)
• The tool comes with a side handle. It is strongly
recommended to install the side handle for a stable
and secure grip of the tool.
∙ Ensure that the trigger is locked (HC-9 / HCS-8).
∙ Screw the side handle (1) into the threaded hole
(3) of the handle bracket (2) for easy operation.
