• Do not use dirty wrenches.
• Do not replace hydraulic oil in dusty areas.
• Hydraulic oil is highly flammable and must be kept
away from sparks and fire. Smoking is prohibited.
• Hydraulic oil can cause eye and skin inflammation.
If ingested it will cause diarrhea and vomiting. In
case of eye contact, rinse in clean water for a few
minutes and consult a doctor.
• Replace hydraulic oil
∙ Flip the tool with the drain hole up (cool the tool
if overheating). Place a basin under the tool to
catch the oil leak.
∙ Loosen the oil drain screw and remove the O-ring
(before loosening the oil drain screw, ensure that
the piston is in its original position to facilitate the
removal of all residues).
∙ Turn the tool with the drain hole down (natural
discharge) or use a suitable oil pumping system
(e.g. Pump-jack). Drain the oil from the tank to
prevent it from leaking into the tool.
∙ Use suitable equipment (such as a funnel) to
slowly pour in the correct amount of
anti-bubble, anti-wear #46 hydraulic oil (ap-
proximately 0.22 litres). Only use new or clean
hydraulic oil.
∙ Check if the oil level is at the bottom of the
oil drain screw hole. If the oil level is still low,
please add anti-bubble, anti-wear hydraulic# 46
hydraulic oil.
∙ Tighten the oil drain screw and sealing ring
lightly.
∙ Insert the battery, start the tool to extend the
piston, quickly start and stop the motor several
times to exhaust air or excess bubbles.
∙ Flip the tool again to set the drain hole up.
∙ Fill the hydraulic oil again, cover the oil drain
screw and tighten it.
∙ Check if there is any oil leakage.
• Top up hydraulic oil
∙ Before topping up hydraulic oil, please ensure
that the piston is fully retracted.
∙ Place the machine horizontally in a stable
position on the workbench, with the oil drain hole
facing upwards. Place a basin under the machine
to prevent oil leakage.
∙ Unscrew the oil drain screw.
∙ Check the amount of missing oil.
∙ Use suitable equipment (such as a funnel), and
slowly fill the upper edge of the oil filling hole with
new, clean hydraulic oil.
∙ Put back the oil drain screw and tighten it.
Maintenance instructions
General maintenance
• The employer and the operator are responsible for
ensuring that the tool is kept in safe working order.
Furthermore, only authorized TJEP service per-
sonnel or TJEP distributors shall repair the tool and
12
must use parts or accessories that are supplied or
recommended by Kyocera Unimerco Fastening.
• Keep the tool in clean condition at all times. Wipe
off grease or oil with dry clean cloth to prevent
accidental drop of the tool.
• Before inspecting or maintaining the tool, make
sure to lock the trigger lock (HC-9 / HCS-8) before
removing the battery.
• Avoid any use of solvent base cleaner to clean the
tool, as certain solvent will damage or weaken the
composite parts of the tool.
• Ensure that all screws are fully tightened on a
regular basis or every day in the event of frequent or
prolonged work.
• All screws and nuts should be kept tight and undam-
aged. Loose screws may result in hazard situations
and cause severe personal injury or parts breakage.
• Check the blade. Using worn blades reduces the
potential of the machine and cause unnecessary
overheating of the motor. Replace it immediately
once you notice it is worn.
• Keep the motor surface clean, ventilation and cool-
ing smooth, and ensure that the motor runs without
any abnormal noise. Poor ventilation can cause the
motor to overheat, and the tool will not work normal-
ly or be damaged.
• Keep the piston (HCS-12) and tool head clean to
ensure that the piston returns completely at the
end of its stroke, otherwise a new stroke will not be
possible.
∙ Place the machine horizontally on a stable
working surface.
∙ For HC-18B series, first loosen the two screws
on both sides of the protective cover (HS-4),
remove the protective cover, and then clean the
piston end.
∙ For HCS-20B series, directly clean the piston end.
• Lubricate moving parts regularly.
• NEVER use a tool if there is any doubt.
Storage
• When not in use for an extended period, apply a thin
coat of lubricant to the steel parts to avoid rust.
• Do not store the tool in a cold weather environment.
• When not in use, the tool should be stored in a
warm and dry place.
• Keep out of children's reach.
Disposal
• Disposal of the tool must be carried out according to
the instructions given by the local authorities.
Trouble shooting
Tool / battery protection system
• The tool is equipped with a tool / battery protection
system. The tool will automatically stop during oper-
ation if the tool or battery is placed under one of the
following conditions:
