3. Safety
Please read this operating manual carefully before fitting the device.
IMPORTANT:
Do not do any connection work on the system when the electric
fence energiser or the electric fence are live!
All WZG electric fence energisers fulfil
the safety regulations that are defined for fence energisers. Nevertheless an electric
fence is not completely safe. A shock from an electric fence can harm people and is
especially dangerous for small children and people with a heart condition. The safe use
of electric fences assumes that the officially prescribed safety regulations are
observed. You will find the safety regulations for electric fences in section 9 of this
operating manual. Please familiarise yourself with and observe the regulations!
IMPORTANT:
If the fence energiser is damaged, deactivate it immediately and
send it in for repair.
4. Assembly and Commissioning of the Electric Fence Energiser
WZG SG3 can be mounted directly on the WZG earth stake. If this fence energiser is
fitted directly underneath or close to the fence, it can even be connected without the
need for a separate connection cable to the fence!
First select the assembly site. Set up the earthing if possible on the outside of the
fence, near to the fence in a moist spot, e.g. in clay ground where the earth stake can
be firmly set and good contact with the ground is ensured. Avoid sandy soil because
this is a poor earth. After assembly, turn the fence energiser on by turning the knob (5).
The pulse interval can also be adjusted by turning the knob.
Drive the earth stake (9) into the ground in a suitable place so that it is protruding about
half a metre out of the ground. Loosen the screw (4) for the earth connection, loosen
the fastening clip slightly and push the fence energiser onto the earth stake as far as it
goes (see illustration). Tighten the screw (4) again and check that the device is secure.
The fence energiser is sufficiently earthed under good conditions. The earthing can be
improved if necessary by connecting another earth stake with its wire connected to the
screw (4).
If it is possible to fit the fence energiser directly next to or underneath the fence, the
fence tape (wire) can be fastened directly under the connecting clip (3) for the fence
tape. Loosen the fastening screw for the fence tape/wire (2), place the fence tape
under the clip and tighten the screw.
