Motor Overload Protection
The SubMonitor Connect electronics provide motor overload protection by preventing motor current from
exceeding the maximum Service Factor Amps (SFA).
Motor Temperature Protection with PT100/PT1000
Overheating is the most common cause of electrical motor failure. Adequate protection against overheating
is necessary for all electrical motors.
The PT100/PT1000 input is capable of measuring a thermistor resistance from 0 to 5 kΩ with an accuracy of
±1%. This covers the entire applicable temperature range for the PT100 and PT1000 PTC thermistors. The
temperature is displayed to the nearest 1 °C.
PT100/PT1000 requires a separate wire harness routed to the pump motor for temperature readings.

Motor Temperature Protection with SubTemp (MT6111 Only)
The SubTemp sensor is a pre-installed electronic temperature sensor inside some submersible motors.
SubTemp continuously measures the temperature of the motor's electrical windings. SubTemp is only
available in SubMonitor Connect model MT6111.
The temperature data is transmitted from the SubTemp using two of the three motor power phases in the
power lead/drop cable (300 m maximum cable length). The SubMonitor Connect's main current sensors
read the signal. No additional cabling or communication device is needed for this feature. The temperature
data is displayed to the nearest 1 °C on the SubMonitor Connect's Quick View 3 display and the FE Connect
mobile app.
The SubMonitor Connect may take up to one minute to read the signal from the SubTemp. The display
shows "—" until the signal is detected.
NOTE:
The SubMonitor Connect is not compatible with legacy SubTrol temperature sensors.
SubTemp Setup
Motors installed with a SubTemp sensor need to have a 1.0 uF capacitor, approved for phase-to-phase
operation, connected between each phase pair (total of three) to improve the electromagnetic compatibility
(EMC) system performance. The capacitors must be connected on the motor power lines (T1, T2, and T3),
preferably at the Contactor.
If you see "No Sig" or "Low Sig" in the display, verify that the motor phase lead sequence is correct going
through the SubMonitor Connect sensors.
