4.3 Completing the inhalation
The duration of inhalation depends on the quantity of medication
used and the breathing pattern.
Inhalation is complete when no more aerosol is produced by the
nebuliser, or the aerosol only emerges from the nebuliser inter-
mittently. The noise made by the nebuliser will change. A small
quantity of medication (approx. 1 ml) will be left in the nebuliser
even after an inhalation session.
When the inhalation session has ended, turn the
®
INQUA
compressor off at the On/Off switch.
Pull the power plug out of the socket (see instructions for use
of the INQUA
from the connection tubing.
If the nebuliser is to be used for several different medications one
after the other in one inhalation session, the nebuliser must be
cleaned before it is filled with different medication (see
Chapter "Hygienic re-use", Section "Cleaning with warm drinking
water", page 58).
WARNING: Bacterial contamination caused by
residues
Bacteria can breed very quickly in nebulisers, mouth-
pieces or masks that have not been cleaned properly and
in liquids that are left in the nebuliser, thereby endanger-
ing health, for example by causing infections.
You should therefore begin preparation for hygienic re-
use as soon as the inhalation session is ended. Always
empty out the residue in the nebuliser and never store
any liquids in it.
