5.4 Disinfection
Disinfect the dismantled nebuliser and the mouthpiece or the
mask used immediately after cleaning.
CAUTION: Risk of infection due to inadequate
disinfection
Inadequate disinfection encourages the growth of bacte-
ria and thus increases the risk of infection. A nebuliser
cannot be disinfected effectively unless it has been
cleaned thoroughly. Disinfection is not completed proper-
ly until the specified minimum disinfection time has
elapsed. Do not switch the disinfector off until the speci-
fied minimum disinfection time has passed.
If you use a microwave for disinfection, ensure that the
appliance operates with the necessary wattage [W]. Also
make sure that the disinfectors used are clean and func-
tioning properly.
Disinfection with boiling water
Place the individual parts of your INQUA
water for at least 15 minutes.
Use a clean pot and fresh drinking water.
Drinking water contains dissolved particles (e.g., salts) that can
form a milky film on plastic parts during the boiling process,
depending on their type and quantity. This film can be prevented
by using distilled water in the boiling operation.
When boiling, make sure that there is enough water in the pot to
prevent the nebuliser parts from coming into contact with the
base of the pot.
