Troubleshooting

®
– Polytron 5200 CAT / 5310 IR / 5700 IR - specific: Zero
calibration was performed within 24 h before starting span
calibration.
®
– Polytron 5310 IR-specific:: The correct gas category is
selected.
All instruments except Polytron 57x0 (IR)
Perform span calibration:
1. Select SPN-Adj and confirm with [OK].
 The Maintenance signal is transmitted by the analog
interface, no alarm or fault relays are switched.
 The display will show the current value blinking (e.g.
lower hockey sticks for under range).
2. Apply span gas.
● Set gas flow corresponding to the sensor used (see
"Enter the menu, see 8.3.3 Entering the menu",
page 16)
After the test gas has been applied to the sensor for 3
minutes and the displayed value is stable perform
calibration.
3. Use [UP] / [DOWN] to adjust the value to the desired
value.
4. Acknowledge with [OK]; the instrument will return to the
main menu.
 The sensor span is calibrated.
5. Turn off gas flow and remove the calibration adapter from
the sensor or disconnect tubing.
Polytron 57x0 (IR)-specific
Perform span calibration:
1. Select SPN-Adj and confirm with [OK].
 The Maintenance signal is transmitted by the analog
interface, no alarm or fault relays are switched.
 The display toggles between GAS - type and XXX the
current gas code for the calibration gas.
2. Check the gas code.
● If the value is correct, tap [DOWN].
● If the value is incorrect, tap [OK]. Change the value
using [UP]/[DOWN] and acknowledge with [OK].
 The display toggles between GAS and unit.
 The current unit is shown at the bottom of the display.
3. Check the gas unit.
● If the value is correct, tap [DOWN].
● If the value is incorrect, tap [OK]. Change the value
using [UP]/[DOWN] and acknowledge with [OK].
 The display toggles between GAS, CONC and XXX
the span value of the previous calibration.
4. Check the gas concentration.
● If the value is correct, tap [DOWN].
● If the value is incorrect, tap [OK]. Change the value
using [UP]/[DOWN] and acknowledge with [OK].
 The display toggles between walking dashes and GAS
- ON.
5. Apply span gas.
● Set gas flow corresponding to the sensor used (see
"Gas flow for calibrations", page 16)
● Tap [OK]
 The display toggles between walking dashes, CAL
and XXX the current gas value.
After the test gas has been applied to the sensor for 3
minutes and the displayed value is stable perform
calibration.
6. Tap [OK].
 If the calibration was successful, the display will toggle
between CAL and OK. Otherwise it will toggle
between CAL and FAIL.
– If [OK] is not acknowledged within approximately 5
minutes, the instrument will time out and the display
will toggle between CAL and FAIL.
– If [UP] is tapped the calibration will be aborted. The
instrument will return to the main menu.
7. Acknowledge with [OK]; the instrument will return to the
main menu.
8. To go back to measuring mode, tap [UP].
9. Turn off gas flow and remove the calibration adapter from
the sensor or disconnect tubing.
