4.4 ADJUSTING THE SEEDING DEPTH
To obtain a good level at which sprouts come out, the seed needs
to be placed at the right depth into the seeding bed.
Hoe coulter, disc coulter COREX
The seeding depth is adjusted simultaneously for all planting
devices through a crank (Fig. 65). By rotating it counterclockwise,
a stronger pressure can be exerted on the planting devices to the
ground by means of the extension springs, thus allowing deeper
seeding.
You can further adjust the pressure, separately, changing the
position of the tie-rod (B Fig. 65).
Only with hoe coulters there's a spring (C, Fig. 65), which, when
completely released, allows to reset the weight of the single
spring element (D). In this situation it's possible to make
superficial seedings.
Disc coulter COREX
With disc coulters is possible to assemble a rear rubber wheel
(Fig. 66), which allows to check the seeding depht. Thanks to a
series of holes, you can set the same seeding depht for all the
coulter elements (Fig. 66).
A) minimum depht: 0 ÷ 0,5 cm
B) maximum depht: 8 cm
IMPORTANT: we advise against the use of the rear wheel on
moist soils.
On request, the planting unit can be equipped with hydraulic
regulation of the pressure of the furrow openers (Fig. 65). This
device is fitted in place of the manual adjuster screws and
connected through the special hydraulic tubes to the tractor
distributor (double effect). The device is operated by moving the
lever of the tractor distributor. A pointer on the adjustment scale (A
Fig. 67) allows a purely progressive reference to the pressure
value of the furrow opener units:
"0" = minimum pressure;
"5" = maximum pressure.
4.5 HYDRAULIC LIFTING OF THE FURROW OPENER
BEARING FRAME
On request, the planting unit can be equipped with a hydraulic
lifting device (Fig. 68) for the furrow opener bearing frame (9 Fig.
2). This device is fitted in place of the manual adjustment tie rod
(A Fig. 18) and connected through special hydraulic tubes to the
tractor distributor (double effect).
The hydraulic system supplied has a unidirectional flow regulator
(A Fig. 68-69) that when correctly adjusted allows the furrow
opener bearing frame to be raised parallel to the ground.
Free flow from A to B (Fig. 69);
Throttled flow from B to A (regulated) (Fig. 69).
Slacken the lock nut (1) and turn the knob (2) to adjust. When the
adjustment has been completed, re-tighten the lock nut.
During the planting unit/equipment assembly operations, and
if a hydraulic lifting device is installed for the furrow opener
bearing frame, check that the transmission gears of the
planting unit (Fig. 21) do not, and cannot, interfere with other
parts of the assembly during normal working operations.
