• Make sure that the cutting tool has no contact with the
ground before starting the device.
• Before starting the engine, make sure that your hands and
feet are kept at a safe distance to the cutting tool.
• Caution! The cutting tool may after-run. Do not try to slow
down it by the hand.
• Start cutting only when the cutting tool has reached the full
rotational speed.
• Never bring the cutting tool in contact with rigid objects
(stones, trunks).
• Stop the machine and remove the spark plug connector
when
− the cutting tool comes in contact with stones, nails or
other foreign objects
− carrying out repair work.
− performing maintenance and cleaning work.
− Eliminating faults.
− transporting or storing
− replacing the cutting tool
− leaving of machine (also for short-term interruption)

• Remove unconditionally any foreign objects out of the
hedge (e.g. wires) as these can damage the knives of the
hedge trimmer.
• Take special care when operating close to overhead cables.
• Keep hands and feet away from the cutting device when it
moves.
• If you release the throttle trigger the cutting device will after-
run for a short time
• If you release the throttle trigger the cutting device will after-
run for a short time
• Be sure that the cutting device already moves before you
start cutting.
• Do not use a blunt, broken or otherwise damaged cutting
device.
• Never get in contact with the running cutting device with
metallic fences or the ground.
• Stop the engine and allow the machine to come to a stop
when
− the cutting tool hits a foreign object,
− abnormal operating noise is noticed,
− the machine causes abnormal vibration.
⇒ Then, pull off the spark plug connector from the spark
plug and take the following actions:
− check the machine for damages,
− check for loose parts and tighten them if necessary,
− replace damaged parts by equivalent parts or have
them repaired.
• Stop the engine and pull the spark plug connector:
− to remove jammed material,
− to eliminate faults,
− for work breaks,
− before leaving the hedge trimmer.

• Persons who work with the power pruner must exhibit on
request a training certificate appropriate to the intended use
and be familiar with the use of the power pruner and
personal protective equipment.
• Only use a suited guide bar/saw chain combination as
described under "Technical data". Incorrect combinations
increase the risk of kickbacks.
• Is the oil tank filled (chain lubrication)?
Check the oil level on a regular basis. Top up saw chain oil
without delay to prevent the saw chain from running dry.
• Is saw chain clamped correctly?
Observe the points in paragraph "Clamping saw chain".
• Is saw chain sharpened correctly?
Use only well sharpened saw chains as edgeless saw
chains increase not only the risk of backstrokes but also
charge the motor.
• Do not use any cracked saw chains or such that have
changed their shape.
• Securely support the power pruner when switching it on and

hold it with both hands. Chain and guide bar must stand
free.
• Start cutting only when the saw chain has reached the full
number of revolutions.
• Do not attempt to hit an already existing cut.
• Do not use the power pruner for lifting or moving of wood.
• Saw splintered wood with care. There is risk of injury by
wood pieces carried away.
• Operate the power pruner only with safe standing position.
• Frequently change the working position to prevent a one-
sided work position.
• Make sure that the wood is free of foreign object (nails etc).
• Be careful at the end of a sawing cut. As soon as the power
pruner leaves the wood the force of weight changes. There
is risk of accident for legs and feet.
• Remove the power pruner only with running saw chain out
of the cut.
• If the saw chain gets jammed in the wood, stop it
immediately. Use a wedge to free the guide bar.
• Never touch wire fences or the ground with the running saw
chain.
• Switch off the power pruner between the cuts when several
cuts are carried out.
• Before leaving the power pruner for work breaks bring it in a
safe condition (cover the chain guard) and put it on a place
where nobody is endangered. Secure the power pruner
against unauthorized access.
• Stop the machine and remove the spark plug connector
when
− Contacting the power pruner with soil, stones, nails or
other foreign substances
> Check immediately chain and guide bar.
− Carrying out repair work.
− Performing maintenance and cleaning work.
− Eliminating faults.
− Transport
