6.6 Wheel gear for track vehicles
All Brevini wheel gear units for track vehicles are
normally equipped with a negative multi-disc parking
brake, independently from the type of gear unit.
- This brake can be started by connecting the fittings
of the vehicle braking system to the brake control
hole of all the gear units with these features that are
installed on the vehicle. Then bleed the brakes and
the braking hydraulic circuit.
Multi-disc brake bleeding operation
- Put the hydraulic circuit under pressure and bleed
all the brakes. Slightly unscrew the fitting of the
brake control while maintaining pressure until all the
air has been eliminated and only oil flows out. Then
re-tighten the fitting.
7. LUBRICATION
The Brevini gear units are supplied without oil,
therefore the user must select the lubricant ac-
cording to what is indicated in the table shown
in paragraph 7.3.
7.1 Wheel gear for tyred vehicles:
ATTENTION: In the RSF - RFL - RFD wheel gear
units, a grease gun has been installed in the bottom
part of the axle. Use it to insert grease into the seal
ring labyrinth bearing.
Wheel gear unit positioning
- Turn the wheel gear unit until the level hole in pos.
"A" is about 15° below the center line of the gear
unit as shown in the figure on the right.
NOTE: in some types of Wheel Gear Units there is
a 3rd plug (Load) that is 180° opposite plug "A".
In some cases the plugs may also be located on
the sides.
3rd plug
- Insert oil into the wheel gear unit using the hole
in pos. "B"
until oil flows out from the hole in position "A" (for
wheel gear
units equipped with the 3rd hole, use it to insert oil
and use the
one in position "A" for the level) then replace the
plugs.
- Turn the gear unit a few times to eliminate any air
pockets and
then check the various levels.
7.2 Wheel gear for track vehicles
NOTE: In one series of Wheel Gear Units there
are 2 oil plugs located at 7.5º and in other series
there are 2 oil plugs located at 18.0º.
Gear unit positioning
- Turn the gear unit until the level hole in pos.
"A" is
about 15° below the centre line of the gear
unit as
shown in the figure on the right.
Filling and level
- Insert oil into the wheel gear unit using the
hole in pos.
"B" until oil flows out from the level hole in
position "A" and then replace the plugs.
- Turn the gear unit a few times to eliminate any
air pockets and then check the various levels.
