4SEAL TF
Dear customer:
We are pleased that you have decided on the Össur liner, a quality product made by Össur. Please read the
following tips for usage carefully and take special note of the tips regarding care and safety.
DESCRIPTION OF THE PRODUCT
The Össur liner has been specially developed to meet the needs and demands of prosthesis wearers. Its
development, technology and operation meet the highest levels of quality and functionality. The Össur liner has a
unique combination of product features, ensuring an indication-based care method.
Silicone Gel has a moisturizing effect that prevents injuries. New features lead to improved and physiologically
correct residual limb adhesion to provide user-friendly utilization. In combination with the specific product
characteristics, the Össur liner leads to a safe and satisfactory treatment result.
The use of the 4Seal TF liner provides a substantial improvement in dealing with the prosthesis. The unique anti-
friction coating makes it easy to apply and remove the liner without aids such as an alcohol spray. When it is worn,
a Össur liner has a decongesting effect, so that blood circulation in the residual limb is improved, making it firmer.
In addition, the silicone has properties that care for and protect the skin. Any existing scars on the residual limb
become softer and shallower over time. Due to the closed surface of the silicone and its chemical properties,
virtually residue-free cleaning is possible, assuming that the care instructions are applied correctly.
The 4Seal TF liner is equipped with Umbrellan knitted fabric. This patented aid has unique product characteristics
that have a pain relief / painkiller effect. In the case of phantom pain, phantom sensations or idiopathic residual
limb pain (= pain of unknown origin), it has been found that its use reduces pain, improves sleep quality and
increases a sense of well-being.
APPLICATION
Cleaning
Before using a new liner for the first time, it should be CAREFULLY washed and dried 2-3 times. This reduces the
initially high adhesion of the material, which may cause skin reactions in the case of sensitive skin.
Putting on the liner
Turn the liner inside out (Fig. 1) and hold the liner as shown (Fig. 2). Create as flat a surface as possible. Now place
this surface on the end of the residual limb and slide the liner carefully over the residual limb without producing
wrinkles (Fig. 3).
Due to the especially easily sliding surface of the liner, additional aids for putting the liner on, such as sprays or
talc, are no longer necessary (Fig. 4).
CAUTION: Please do not pull on the top of the liner – this causes increased tension on the liner edge and on the
underlying skin. This then manifests itself as water blisters, welts or similar symptoms. If wrinkles form when
putting the liner on, repeat the procedure.
Application in conjunction with liner pads
If there are cavities in the distal region of the liner caused by, for example, the incursion of scars in the residual
limb or temporary weight fluctuations that occur in this area, this can be compensated with the help of liner pads.
To use them, select the silicone pad appropriate to the size of the liner and carefully insert it into the interior before
putting on the liner (Fig. 5 + 6). Ask your prosthetist to precisely demonstrate the procedure to prevent incorrect or
improper use. Incorrect handling can cause skin problems or even bruising.
CARE INSTRUCTIONS
• Please note that the silicone liner and the residual limb need to be washed daily with mild soap. To do so, turn
the silicone liner inside out; clean this side thoroughly with the mild soap. Rinse thoroughly with cold water and
dry off the excess water with a lint-free cloth (Fig. 7). Turn the silicone liner back inside in and store it on the
included liner stand (Fig. 8).
• The exterior of the liner can be cleaned with a damp cloth.
