GRV14 Cooling Unit.

Available as option on art. 324 only.
The GRV14 cooling unit is powered with two phases of the
mains voltage, drawn from the power board (45), through
the services transformer (62) primary winding that act as
autotransformer (400/220 Vac).
The power board (45), acts as a connection interface be-
tween the unit components and the actual control circuit,
the panel board (48) of the power source, to which it is
connected (via serial line with INV board).
More specifically, the "enable cooling unit" signal of the
panel board (48) commands the RL1 relay on the power
board (45), which directly powers the coolant pump (26)
and the fans (2).
The pressure switch (23), inserted in the hydraulic circuit
on the pump (26) delivery, provides the isolated signal for
the fluid pressure to the panel board (48), through the pow-
er board (45).
Upon power source start-up, the panel board (48) checks
whether the cooling unit is connected, by means of the sig-
EN
nal provided by the jumper on terminals 1 and 2 of the
connector (9) on cooling unit (Fig. 3.3.13).
With the connector (9) disconnected, or with the jumper
interrupted, the cooling unit is disabled and the operating
mode selection from control panel is not possible; if the
cooling unit is already enabled, you will have the power
source block with indication of the relative error code.
If set to continuous or automatic mode (see Instructions
Manual), when the unit is switched on the pump (26) and
fans (2) will operate for 30 seconds, to fill the torch tubes
and check the pressurization of the hydraulic circuit; if no
welding command is received from the operator, they will
then stop awaiting a new start command.
If the pressure switch (23) does not detect the appropriate
pressure within 30 seconds after start-up, the panel board
(48) orders the power source block, with appropriate error
indication on control panel.
In automatic mode the pump and fans start running when
welding begins and stop 3 minutes after welding has stopped.
In continuous mode the pump and fans are always kept
running. Only a lack of pressure can stop them, along with
the power source.
The cooling unit factory setting is "OFF", thus this setting
must be changed the first time the welding system is used
(see Instructions Manual)

MAINTENANCE.

WARNINGS
ANY INTERNAL INSPECTIONS OR REPAIRS MUST
BE CARRIED OUT BY QUALIFIED PERSONNEL.
BEFORE BEGINNING MAINTENANCE OPERA-
TIONS, UNPLUG THE MACHINE FROM THE MAINS
AND WAIT FOR THE INTERNAL CAPACITORS TO
DISCHARGE (1 MINUTE).
3.1
Periodic inspection, cleaning.
Periodically make sure that the equipment and all connec-
tions are in proper condition to ensure operator safety.
Periodically open the power board (45) protection carter
and check inside the ventilation tunnel.
Remove any dirt or dust to ensure smooth air flow and
thus adequate cooling of the internal parts of the power
source.
Remove any dirt or metal dust from the wire feed liner and
gearmotor unit, making sure that they are not worn to the
point of needing replacement.
Check the condition of the output terminals, output
and power supply cables of the power source; replace if
damaged.
Check the condition of the internal power connections and
connectors on the electronic boards; if you find "loose"
connections, tighten or replace the connectors.
3.2

Power source fittings, commands and signals.

See Fig. 3.2.a, 3.2.b and power source Instructions Manual.
3.3
Troubleshooting.
NOTE
Items in boldface describe problems that may occur on
the machine (symptoms).
□ Operations preceded by this symbol refer to situations
the operator must determine (causes).
■ ♦ Operations preceded by these symbols refer to ac-
tions the operator must perform in order to solve the
problems (solutions).
