2.3 Unpack the MACSQuant® Tyto® Cell Sorter
The instrument requires adequate air circulation for heat exchange and cooling. Read the chapter
safety information to avoid the risk of overheating.
Do not place the instrument on a unstable cart, stand, tripod, or bracket. As a consequence, the instrument
might fall down, which may cause serious bodily harm and/or serious damage to the instrument. Use only a
table, cart, stand, tripod or bracket that can easily support a weight of >72 kg.
Do not use a monitor holder exceeding a total length of 331mm. As a consequence, the instrument might tip
over and fall down, which may cause serious bodily harm and/or serious damage to the instrument.
Do not carry the instrument on the orange touchscreen.
The left side of the instrument is heavier.
External monitors for use with the MACSQuant® Tyto® Cell Sorter must meet the specifications and
certifications listed in
Your authorized Miltenyi Biotec service provider will unpack the instrument.
1 Open the transportation box.
2 Take out all boxes and bags from the upper storage compartment ( Table 2.1 ) and remove the sheet of
foam covering the MACSQuant® Tyto® Cell Sorter.
3 Lift the MACSQuant Tyto Cell Sorter out of its box. CAUTION! Two people are required to lift the
instrument. Take care to avoid personal strain or injury, especially avoid crushing fingers when you put the
instrument down. Miltenyi Biotec accepts no liability for potential injuries sustained during lifting and/or
movement of the device.
4 Transfer the instrument onto a stable working platform and remove the plastic bag surrounding the device.
5 Take out the monitor holder from the foam and unscrew the screw at the bottom.
6 Screw the monitor holder into the fixture at the rear side of the instrument.
7 Screw the screw from the monitor holder back in at the bottom of the fixture to secure the monitor holder
to the instrument.
8 Unpack the external monitor and verify that the VESA-mount is attached.
9 Attach the monitor with the VESA-mount at the top of the monitor holder. A click will confirm stable
attachment.
2.4 Install the MACSQuant® Tyto® Cell Sorter
Your authorized Miltenyi Biotec service provider will install the instrument.
1 Connect the monitor with the power cable to the lower AC/DC port at the rear side of the MACSQuant® Tyto®
Cell Sorter (
2 Connect the monitor with the signal cabel to the socket for the monitor at the rear side of the instrument
( Figure 1.2 ).
3 Connect the keyboard to the USB port on the right side of the orange touchscreen ( Figure 1.1 ).
