After Distraction (Consolidation Phase)
WARNING
Possible system failure in case of reuse!
As damaged or used distraction systems can lead to injury, the systems may never be
reused!
The consolidation phase lasts approx. 12 weeks, depending on patient.
•
In order not to jeopardize the distraction result, the distraction system must be left in situ
•
until complete osseous consolidation ("knitting") has been achieved.
Physiotherapy can be started already during the consolidation phase to avoid adduction
•
contracture.
Orthodontic treatment can already be started during the consolidation phase.
•
Upon completion of the consolidation phase, all non-resorbable distractor components
•
must be removed.
•
The type and scope of the postoperative therapy and / or rehabilitation measures must be
determined by the physician according to patient needs.

Disposal
Be sure to observe all national / local regulations and guidelines when disposing of the
packaging material and potentially infectious items (e.g. after removing the metal
components).
