Power and Measure 2-Wire Transmitters
Select the Source mode by pressing the SOURCE/READ button until "SOURCE" appears on the
display.
Display: PWR XMTR mA, PWR XMTR %mA
This function simultaneously supplies power to a 2-wire transmitter while displaying a 4 mA to
20 mA output to the transmitter.
1.
Turn the Selector knob to mA.
2.
Connect the black and red leads to the meter as shown.
3.
Repeatedly press the RANGE/TYPE button until "SOURCE", "PWR XMTR" and "mA" or
"SOURCE", "PWR XMTR" and "% mA" appear on the display.
4.
Disconnect one or both input wires from the 2-wire transmitter to be calibrated.
5.
Connect the red lead of the meter to the plus (+) input of the device and the black lead to
the minus (-).
6.
Connect an appropriate sensor or calibrator to the input of the 2-wire transmitter.
The IPM-300 supplies a nominal 24 VDC at 24 mA to the 2-wire transmitter. The current
passed by the transmitter will be accurately displayed. Calibrate the transmitter in the
usual manner.
