The Ambu® ResCue Mask™ enables performance of mouth to mask ventilation.
Additionally it provides a physical barrier between the rescuer and the victim,
eliminating direct contact of the rescuer's lips with the unknown subject.
Proper training in ventilation and CPR should be obtained before using this
device. Practice using your ResCue Mask on training manikins so that you are
ready for any emergency that might occur. In the event that you do not have
your Ambu ResCue Mask start CPR without delay.
After removel of the valve, the Ambu ResCue Mask can be attached to a
resuscitator if available.
Start CPR without delay
CAUTIONS
• Ambu ResCue Mask is intended to be only used by trained users.
• Make sure that the valve is properly attached to the mask before starting
ventilation. If not properly attached it may result in insufficient ventilation.
If the one-way valve is replaced after the mask has been used, the
replacement valve should only be inserted halfway into the mask and then
be pressed fully into the mask just before starting the ventilation, in order
to secure proper attachment.

1. Use on adults and children

Carefully inspect all parts of damage or excessive wear and replace, if necessary.
• Remove the mask/valve assembly from case. Push out the soft dome with
your fingers and ensure that the one-way valve is in place.
• Put on the protective gloves if available.
• Clear the airway of any liquid (blood, saliva and gastric content).
• Place the mask over the patient's mouth and nose. Position the elastic rubber
band around the head if available.
the thumbs of both hands. Lift the jaw into the mask with the remaining fingers
by exerting pressure behind the angles of the jaw (jaw thrust). At the same time,
press the mask onto the face with the thumbs to make a tight seal.

Apply the mask to the patient's face using
• Blow through the inspiratory valve and watch the chest rise. Stop inflation and
observe the chest falling. The seal between the face and mask can be reduced
by adjusting the contact pressure, altering the position of the fingers and thumbs,
or increasing the jaw thrust.
• Continue rescue breathing until the patient responds or you are relieved
by a higher medical authority.
* The Ambu ResCue mask comes both with and without an elastic rubber band.
NOTE
If the patient vomits; remove the ResCue Mask and clean both the patient's
airway and the mask with your gloved fingers. If you should contaminate either
the valve mouthpiece or any of your exposed skin surfaces, use the alcohol
wipes to clean these areas immediately. Resume rescue breathing promptly.

2. Use on infants

The Ambu ResCue Mask may be reversed to better fit an infants face. Place the nose
section of the mask under the infants chin. Seal the ResCue Mask as described under
the Adult/Child section and ventilate using the previously described technique.
The one-way valve of Ambu ResCue Mask can be connected to a face mask with
15mm standard male connector.

3. Use with oxygen (optional
)
The Ambu ResCue Mask may be used with supplemental oxygen. Attach the
oxygen tubing to the optional oxygen inlet and set the flow rate. A head strap
is included on all models that have the optional oxygen valve. If the patient is
spontaneously breathing, use the head strap to position the ResCue Mask on the
patient's face. If the patient is NOT breathing, begin mouth to mask ventilation
immediately. The use of supplemental oxygen to the Ambu ResCue Mask will
increase the delivered oxygen to the patient. The rescuer will not be affected
by the use of supplemental oxygen.
*ResCue Mask with Oxygen Inlet is Rx Only in the USA.
