ErgoArm Electronic Plus
Forearm cable to clip onto the AFB. Establishes the electrical con-
nection between the elbow joint and system electric hand or system
electric gripper.
Locking and slip-stop:
The internal infinite-position lock can be unlocked or locked under
load in any position. When locked, the ErgoArm can be loaded up
to 230 N with a forearm up to 305 mm in length.
Mechanical:
The integrated compensation mechanism makes it possible to lock
and unlock the elbow while under load by generating a constant
low force of 10 N. The integrated strain-relief device reduces the
risk of possible damage that could result from pulling the cable too
aggressively.
A strong pull on the cable ( clicking sound ) locks, or respectively,
unlocks the joint permanently.
A gentle pull on the cable unlocks the joint (without click). After
relieving the pull, the joint is locked again (Slip-Stop Function).
Electronic:

ErgoArm Electronic Plus
The locking and unlocking of the elbow is controlled by myoelectric
signals via electrodes or by a switch depending on the selected
switch position (see Attachment).
In some switching modes, the joint can be unlocked by electrode
signals so as to lock it again instantly when the signal is turned off
(Slip-Stop Function).

Due to different wall thick-
nesses of the ErgoArm sock-
et, the cut-out must be bevel-
led to allow insertion of the
battery box (see Fig.).

Along with the 12K42 ErgoArm's other func-

harness has also been provided.
The joint is therefore particularly well-suited for
use in hybrid prostheses.
An additional feature of the ErgoArm Electronic
12K50
Plus 12K50, the electronic lock, enables the
ErgoArm Electronic plus
user to control the elbow's unlocking and lock-
ing with myoelectric signals, which are picked
up by the electrodes.
To guarantee the optimal adaptation to the pa-
tient, eight switching modes are available. The
appropriate switching mode should be set by
the orthopedic technician by selecting the proper
color coding plug.
Service:
Because all movable parts are prone to wear, it is necessary to
perform yearly service. This service includes a complete inspection
and possible adjustment of the ErgoArm by Ottobock Myo-Service.
Additionally, the expendable parts are replaced when necessary.
4 Safety instructions
Failure to follow the safety instructions mentioned below can lead
to faulty control or malfunction of the ErgoArm and result in risk
of injuries for the patient.
•
Before interrupting or establishing electrical connections (e.g.
when removing the hand from the prosthesis), the system must
be disconnected from the power supply. For this purpose, ei-
ther remove the battery from the battery receptacle or turn the
prosthesis off by pressing the button in the charging receptacle.
•
Educate your patient in the appropriate use of the ErgoArm.
•
The ErgoArm has been developed for everyday life activities
and must not be used for unusual activities such as extreme
sports (free climbing, paragliding, etc.). A careful treatment of
the prosthesis and its components is essential not only for pro-
longation of its life but above all for the patient's safety! Should
any extreme loads be applied on the prosthesis (e.g. in case of
the fall etc.), then have immediately inspected the prosthesis for
possible damages by the prosthetist. If necessary, the prosthet-
