Position 1 Minimal compensation that allows
natural free swing of the arm while walking.
Position 2 Compensation increases pro-
gressively with flexion of the arm, and
decreases automatically during extension.
Position 3 Compensation remains constant.
If set correctly, the weight of the forearm
is balanced by the compensation, and the
elbow keeps flexed.
Important:
Compensation can be adjusted so that
the arm will remain in a flexed position
despite the force of gravity. If the patient
wants to extend the arm again, extension
can be initiated by a quick forward move-
ment of the shoulder or humerus.
Position 4 Reduced compensation until
flexion stop.
Humeral rotation feature
The humeral rotation turntable has integral
stops (± 80°) to block extreme movements.
Turntable friction is easily adjusted by turn-
ing the external adjustment screw, using a
coin or similar object.
