Installation
Air evacuation
Preparations and precautions
Air and foreign particles in the refrigerant circuit can cause abnormal pressure increases, which can
damage the air conditioner, reduce its efficiency and cause injury. Use a vacuum pump and pressure
gauge to evacuate the refrigerant circuit, removing any non-condensable gas and moisture from the
system.
Evacuation should be performed at the time of initial installation and when the unit is placed in its origi-
nal location.
Before evacuation:
Check that the connecting pipes between the indoor and outdoor unit are connected correctly.
Make sure that all wiring is properly connected.
Evacuation instructions
1. Connect the pressure gauge charging hose to the service port of the outdoor unit's low pressure valve.
2. Connect another pressure gauge charging hose to the vacuum pump.
3. Open the low pressure side of the gauge. Keep the high pressure side closed.
4. Turn on the vacuum pump to evacuate the system.
5. Run the vacuum pump for at least 15 minutes, or until the compound gauge reads -76cmHG (-10 5Pa).
6. Close the low pressure side of the gauge and turn off the vacuum pump.
7. Wait 5 minutes and check that there has been no change in system pressure.
8. If there is a change in system pressure, refer to Checking for Gas Leaks section for information on how
to check for leaks. If there is no change in system pressure,
unscrew the cap on the packed valve (high pressure valve).
9. Insert the hex spanner into the packed valve (high pressure valve) and open the valve by turning the
wrench 1/4 turn.
turn the spanner 1/4 turn counterclockwise. Listen for gas to come out of the system, then close the valve
after
then close the valve after 5 seconds.
10. Observe the pressure gauge for one minute to ensure that there is no change in pressure. The gauge
should indicate a pressure slightly above atmospheric pressure.
11. Remove the charging hose from the service port.
12. Using a hex spanner, fully open the high and low pressure valves.
valves fully open.
13. Hand-tighten the caps on all three valves (service port,
high pressure, low pressure). If necessary, you can tighten them
further with a torque spanner.
Note: When opening the valve stems, turn the hexagon spanner until it hits the stop.
Do not try to force the valve open further.
