13. Firmware update
The manufacturer can make firmware updates available for the
generator.
NOTE!
The following must be considered before the update:
■ An update can overwrite preferences or personal settings.
After an update, always check whether these settings have
been retained and set the generator according to your
preferences again, if necessary.
■ An update can also overwrite log files. If these files have to
be retained, export them to a USB stick before the update.
See section 10.5.
An update has to be uploaded via the USB port on the front of
the generator. An empty USB stick is required for the update. In
such cases, the file is supplied digitally by the manufacturer and
has the name "Schaeffler". This file has to be copied to the root
directory on the USB stick.
Proceed as follows:
■ Check the existing firmware version of the user interface as
described in section 7.1.
■ Turn off the generator at the main switch.
■ Plug the USB stick with the new firmware file in the root
directory into the USB port of the generator.
■ Turn on the generator using the main switch.
■ The generator starts normally and automatically installs the
new firmware.
■ This is not displayed further on the screen.
■ The update is complete as soon as the heating screen (set up)
is displayed.
■ The generator is now ready for use again.
■ This can be checked by comparing the new version number of
the user interface. See section 7.1.

15. Warnings, error messages and other faults
15.1 Warnings and error messages
The generator may display warnings, alarms and error messages
on the screen. An overview of the messages and the actions to be
taken is given below.

Cause & remedy
Config, admin or setup file cannot be
found or loaded. It is also possible that
the version does not correspond during
starting of the generator.
■ Contact your supplier for support.
Cannot save the log file.
■ Plug a USB stick into the USB port on
the front of the heater.
■ Check whether it is possible to write to
the USB stick (FAT32)
Insufficient increase in temperature in the
workpiece over a period of time set by the
manufacturer.
■ Temperature sensor is not attached
to the workpiece or is attached in the
wrong place.
■ Attach or reposition the sensor.
■ Position the sensor as close as
possible to the inductor.
■ Temperature sensor defective.
■ Replace with a functioning sensor.
■ Temperature sensor soiled.
■ Clean the magnetic sensor.
■ Generator power set too low for the
workpiece in question.
■ Increase the generator power.
■ Dimensions of workpiece too large
to generate a sufficient increase in
temperature at maximum power within
a given time.
■ Contact your supplier.
Communication between HMI
(touchscreen) and controller pcb(s) failed.
■ Switch off the generator at the main
switch, wait for a few seconds and
switch on again.
If this does not remedy the fault, contact
your supplier.
Communication between the two chopper
control pcbs is not OK.
■ Switch off the generator at the main
switch, wait for a few seconds and
switch on again.
If this does not remedy the fault, contact
your supplier.
Temperature sensor T1 not connected or
defective.
■ Connect sensor to T1 or replace it with a
functioning sensor.
Temperature sensor T2 not connected or
defective.
■ Connect sensor to T2 or replace it with a
functioning sensor.
Alarm can only occur when ΔT
measurement is switched on.
