Installation and mounting
Risk of failure to detect!
Persons in the hazardous area, but outside the protective field, will
not be detected. It is to be ensured that any dangerous state of the
machine can only be initiated if there are no persons in the hazardous
area.
The L 4000 system must not be used for hand and finger protection.
The statutory and local rules and regulations apply to the usage and
installation of the protective device. These regulations vary depending
on the application.

4.1.2 Minimum distance to reflective surfaces

The light beams from the sender may be deflected by reflective sur-
faces. This can result in failure to detect the object.
All reflective surfaces and objects (e.g. material bins) must therefore
be located at a minimum distance (a) from the protective field of the
system. The minimum distance (a) depends on the distance (D) be-
tween sender and receiver.
Reflective surface
Field of view
Sender and receiver optics have the same field of view.
When using transparent protective screens the minimum dis-
tance values to reflective surfaces may change.
